Area residents spend spring break working at Habitat site
Two students from East Greenwich were among more than 230 Providence College students who recently spent a week working with Habitat for Humanity as a part of the College’s Alternative Spring Break 2013 program. Helping to build decent, affordable homes in 16 locations were Devon Annicelli, a member of the class of 2014 who worked at a site in York, Pa. and Michael McDevitt, a member of the class of 2013 who worked at a site in Cleveland, Ohio.
The students participated through the Habitat campus chapter at Providence College, which is sponsored by the chaplain’s office. Dedicated to eliminating poverty housing, Habitat for Humanity International is an ecumenical Christian ministry founded in 1976. Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner families and other volunteers who work through more than 1,900 affiliates worldwide.
Feldman earns honors
Brian Scott Feldman of East Greenwich was named to the dean’s list at Washington University in St. Louis for the fall of 2012. Feldman is enrolled in the University’s College of Arts & Sciences.
Kerins earn honors at Dallas
Elizabeth Kerin, a freshman art major, and James Kerin, a senior economics and finance major, from East Greenwich have been named to the University of Dallas dean’s list for the fall 2012 semester for earning a semester grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
Malakorn recognized atSkidmore College
Julian Malakorn, the son of Javalit and Mary Malakorn of Warwick, was among the 106 student-athletes inducted into the college’s Thoroughbred Honor Society in a Feb. 11th ceremony on campus.
Skidmore’s Thoroughbred Honor Society recognizes varsity student-athletes who have achieved a grade point average of 3.67 or higher during the previous semester. Among the group recognized at the ceremony were three two-sport athletes and 11 student-athletes with a 4.0 GPA.
Duff, Millman earn Colby honors
Colby College students Laura K. Duff, a senior, the daughter of Robert and Jill Duff, and Christopher M. Millman, a first-year student, the son of Richard and Catherine Millman, who also attended East Greenwich High School, were named to the dean’s list for their outstanding academic achievement during the fall semester of the 2012-13 year.
Gallogly named to dean’s list
A member of the Loyola University class of 2015, Meghan Gallogly, from East Greenwich, has been named to the fall 2012 dean’s list.
Earns Holy Cross honors
Garabed H. Koosherian, son of Bedros and Tracey Koosherian of Warwick has been named to the dean’s list for the first semester at Holy Cross. He is a first year student.
