Plymouth State welcomes first-year students

The following first-year Warwick students are attending Plymouth State University this fall: Kiana Maisonet; Joshua Salinger; Paul Steber; and Anthony Zelano.

Plymouth State University is a regional comprehensive university offering a rich, student-focused learning environment with an enrollment of approximately 4,300 undergraduate and approximately 3,000 graduate students.

Christina Brazeau enters Saint Michael’s College

Christina Brazeau, daughter of Carmela and Scott Brazeau of Warwick, began her first year at Saint Michael’s College this month. Brazeau graduated from Saint Mary Academy-Bay View before coming to Saint Michael’s, which is located in Burlington, Vt.

Saint Michael’s, a distinctive Phi Beta Kappa college, makes it possible for students to participate in independent science research and do real-work internships.

Zarmanian receives degree from Western New England

Manik Zarmanian, of Warwick, received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from Western New England University on Aug. 15, 2013.

Western New England University is a private, independent, co-educational institution founded in 1919. Located in Springfield, Mass., Western New England University serves 3,700 students, including 2,550 full-time undergraduate students. Undergraduate, graduate and professional programs are offered through Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business, Engineering, Pharmacy, and School of Law.

Michael McLaughlin graduates with honors from JMU

Michael Reilly McLaughlin, of Warwick, graduated Cum Laude from James Madison University Aug. 13, 2013. McLaughlin received a degree in Media Arts and Design.

Phi Kappa Phi welcomes Eric De Sousa

Last spring, Warwick resident Eric De Sousa, pursuing a degree in Business Administration at University of Massachusetts, was initiated into Phi Kappa Phi – the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Founded in 1897 at the University of Maine and headquartered in Baton Rouge, La. Its mission is “to recognize and promote academic excellence in all fields of higher education and to engage the community of scholars in service to others.” The Society has chapters on more than 300 college and university campuses in North America and the Philippines. De Sousa is among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors, having at least 72 semester hours, are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.
