The Rhode Island Philharmonic Music School will host a number of Youth Ensemble auditions and summer workshops at the Carter Center for Music Education & Performance in East Providence.

The Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Orchestras will be holding auditions by appointment on June 1, 2, 3, and 4 for the Symphony, Repertory, String Orchestras, and the String Ensembles.

The Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Jazz Ensembles will host auditions by appointment on May 25, June 11, or at your convenience for the Big Band, Paul Murphy Touring Ensemble, and Jazz Combos.

On May 25, June 11, 15, and 21, the Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Wind Ensembles, including the Junior and Senior Divisions, will also be having auditions.

Chamber Music is a weeklong summer workshop for both young people and adults with good music reading skills. Applications are due May 15, and the program will run from June 18-22.

Piano Plus is an opportunity for intermediate and advanced students while Piano Kids are designed for beginners between the ages of 6 and 10. Applications for both are due May 30, and the program will take place July 25-29.

Jazz Rock & Blues will also run from July 25-29, with another session from Aug. 1-5. Middle and high school students are asked to apply by June 15.

Alternative Strings Ensemble is a 6-week summer program with no audition required, although 3+ years of experience is expected, and rehearsals take place on Tuesdays from 6-8 p.m. The start date is June 28.
