To watch show-stopping, award-winning illusionist Lyn Dillies at work, it’s hard to believe she was once a painfully shy little girl.

It wasn’t until Bill Bixby came along as television’s “The Magician” that Lyn’s life was forever changed. She may have only been 12, but there was no questioning her destiny to become not only a first-rate illusionist, but undeniably one of the finest, most-respected illusionists in the world.

On Saturday, Nov. 1, Dillies will bring her eye-defying act to the Park Theatre in Cranston for a show that will appeal to people of all ages, from children to adults. Tickets are currently on sale.

Lyn’s spectacular illusions have been astounding audiences for over two decades. In 2013, she was the first female illusionist in history to receive the prestigious Milbourne Christopher Award – the Academy Award of magic – from the Society of American Magicians. Past recipients of this honor include David Copperfield, Penn and Teller, and Siegfried and Roy. She has also received the Merlin Award for Female Illusionist of the Year from the International Magicians Society in 2009.

“Magic has been my vehicle to not only entertain, but to inspire lives and make a difference,” Lyn says. “It’s what I was born to do.”

Some of Lyn’s career highlights include being the first illusionist ever to make two live Asian elephants appear in succession during the grand opening of the Buttonwood Park Zoo in New Bedford, Mass.; producing her “Learn Magic with Lyn” DVD, which empowers children to perform their own magic; creating “Your Vote is Magic!,” a public service campaign to promote voter awareness; and her “Magic at the Symphony” program, which sets some of the most breathtaking illusions in magic against the beauty and drama of symphonic classics – a truly unique entertainment experience.

Always in demand, Lyn has made numerous television appearances and has shared the stage with some of entertainment’s biggest performers: Jeff Dunham, Marvin Hamlisch, Bill Engval, and Mikhail Baryschnikov. To learn more about Lyn, visit www.MagicOfLyn.com.

Lyn Dillies will perform at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1. Tickets are $15 and $25, with special discounts available for groups of four or more. You may purchase tickets by calling the Park Theatre Box Office at 401-467-7275 or online at www.ParkTheatreRI.com. The Park Theatre is located at 848 Park Ave. in Cranston. Free parking is available for all shows.
