BankRI gathers gifts with holiday giving tree

Posted

For the 19th consecutive year, Bank Rhode Island (BankRI) will help brighten the holiday season for hundreds of local children with its annual “Holiday Giving Tree.”

Since Friday, November 25, each of BankRI’s 19 branches across the state has been collecting gifts for underprivileged children to grant their holiday wishes. BankRI’s nonprofit partners will distribute the collected gifts to children prior to the December holiday. In Cranston, the Bank’s three branches – Atwood Avenue, Park Avenue and Plainfield Pike – have partnered with Aids Care Ocean State and SSTARbirth.

All BankRI branches will prominently display a Holiday Giving Tree in its lobby, decorated with ornaments that feature the name, age and holiday wish of children served by that branch’s nonprofit partner. Bank customers and members of the community are invited to visit their local branch and select an ornament to provide that child with a gift for the holidays. Donors may then return to the branch to place unwrapped gifts beneath the Holiday Giving Tree. Last year’s effort generated nearly 1,400 gifts.
