Barn Babies help celebrate

Residents at Greenwood Care & Rehab celebrated National Nursing Home Week by combining special events with a Country Western theme May 12 through Saturday. While they kicked-off the week with their first annual pie baking contest, with management staff baking pies, they enjoyed activities like square dancing, rodeo games, crafts, and a cookout. On Wednesday, they were treated to a visit from baby animals from Barn Babies, a Massachusetts-based traveling petting zoo. More than 40 residents gathered as Barn Babies employee Vanessa Rodrigues brought in 13 bunnies, six kittens, three puppies, four chickens, plus a baby goat and a pot-bellied pig. After Rodrigues removed the animals from cages, she placed them in the eager arms of residents.
