Barnes & Noble Warwick will host a free Star Wars Reads Day on Saturday, Oct. 5.
Star Wars fans, young and old alike, are invited to dress as their favorite characters and join Barnes & Noble’s second annual celebration of the popular intergalactic tales. Exclusive giveaways and activities from more than 18 publishers of Star Wars-related books will ensure Jedi and padawans from every age group will be delighted and entertained. The Warwick store will feature Star Wars author Ryder Windham for a book signing at 1 p.m. and an appearance by the 501st Stormtroppers at 1350 Bald Hill Road, Warwick.
Ryder Windham is the author of over 60 Star Wars books, including novels, comics and reference books. In addition, he works closely with Lucas Licensing to maintain consistency in Star Wars comics, novels and other Star Wars projects. The 501st Stormtroppers will be with Ryder at the store. The 501st New England Garrison is part of a Star Wars costuming fan club that currently holds a 4000+ membership in all 50 U.S. states and 25 countries worldwide. From Stormtroopers to Snowtroopers, Bounty Hunters to Sith Lords, the 501st is the premier Imperial Star Wars costuming fan club in the galaxy!
We encourage fans to come dressed as their favorite classic Star Wars and Clone Wars characters. At the end of the book signing, we will hold a costume contest! Fans of all ages are welcome to participate.
The store’s Children’s Department will host two special Star Wars Storytimes at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. for the younger Star Wars fans.
In conjunction with Star Wars Reads Day, the Rhode Island Blood Center will conduct a special Star Wars Reads Mobile Blood Drive in the store parking lot starting at 10:30 a.m. Star Wars Stormtroopers will greet donors... You Don’t Have to be a Jedi to Be a Hero ... Donate on Star Wars Reads Day!
