The Batastini School of Basketball will hold its Offensive Improvement Camp and Guard/Point Guard Clinic for boys and girls grades 4-12, beginning next week. The camps will be located at East Greenwich High School and run from July 15-18 and August 5-8 respectively. Cost per player is $225 with a $25 sibling discount. Campers can also attend per day with a rate of $70/day.
Instruction at the Offensive Improvement Camp will focus on individual as well as team offensive concepts. Individual skill instruction will concentrate on ball handling, 1 on 1 play, attacking the rim, and passing under pressure. Particular attention is given to proper shooting mechanics. Team concepts such as spacing, movement without the ball, screening and using screens, as well as creating opportunities for teammates will be stressed. Also, 1 on 1 and 3 on 3 games will be played where players will be required to use the skills learned earlier in camp. Campers will leave camp with a greater basketball IQ and an in-depth understanding of offensive skills and strategies.
The Guard/Point Guard Clinic will focus on all facets of point guard and guard play, including: running an offense, decision-making, being a team leader, penetrating to create for teammates, passing, intense ball-handling development, three-point shooting, and mid-range jump shooting.
Campers can sign up in two ways. They can pay by credit card online (http://batschoolofbasketball.com/signup-summer.asp) or download the camp brochure (http://batschoolofbasketball.com/Summer%202013%20Camps.pdf) and pay with a check. Sign-ups are open until the day the camp begins, including walk-ins.
Additional camps, The Shooting Workshop as well as Summer Jam II, will be offered at The Lincoln School in Providence. For more information on those camps, please visit www.batschoolofbasketball.com.
