Benefit concert features 'Real Housewives of Ocean State Theatre'

Ocean State Theatre Company (OSTC), the not-for-profit professional theatre company, currently celebrating its fourth season in its comfortable, stadium-style theatre in Warwick, will present “The Real Housewives of Ocean State Theatre,” a benefit concert, for one performance only on Sunday, March 13.

Directed by OSTC’s Director of Educational Programming and Community Outreach Jason Loete, with musical accompaniment by Lila Kane, the concert will feature the talents of OSTC alumni Stacey Geer, Taryn Mallard-Reid, Jennifer Mischley and Staci Morin. These “real housewives” will sing songs about dating, wedding day bliss, children, marriage, affairs and divorce. Talented husbands Greg Geer, Paul Morin and Tim Reid will also take part in the concert – both onstage (singing, accompanying) and off (musical arrangements). Funny, unfiltered and maybe even heartwarming, “The Real Housewives of Ocean State Theatre” will be a very special concert not to be missed.

The ladies have all appeared with Ocean State Theatre Company in numerous productions. Stacey Geer of Attleboro made her debut with OSTC as Muriel Eubanks in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, while they were still in residence at Theatre By The Sea. Since then Ms. Geer has appeared in OSTC productions of Hairspray (Prudy/Gym Teacher/Matron), Fools (Lenya), and Meet Me in St. Louis (Katie). Taryn Mallard-Reid of Providence, who made her OSTC debut in Gypsy, (Tessie Tura) was most recently seen as Cousin Tilly in OSTC’s holiday production of It’s a Wonderful Life. Jennifer Mischley of Wrentham, who was most recently seen as Alice in OSTC’s season opener, The Addams Family, made her OSTC debut as both Electra and Miss Cratchitt in last summer’s hit, Gypsy. Staci Morin, who recently returned from New York to her home town of Somerset, appeared in OSTC’s holiday production of It’s a Wonderful Life (Building and Loan Board Chair), as well as previous OSTC productions of Into the Woods (Cinderella’s Mother), Meet Me in St. Louis, and Les Misérables.

The proceeds from The Real Housewives of Ocean State Theatre will benefit Ocean State Theatre Company’s Annual Fund for Artistic Excellence, which ensures that programming and casting choices are made based on the highest artistic standards, rather than being influenced by economic factors. Although OSTC prides itself in hiring approximately 60 percent of its performers and creative team from the greater Rhode Island area, the Fund for Artistic Excellence allows OSTC to combine the local talent with talent from across the country, which benefits the production quality, the local economy, and the local talent.

The Real Housewives of Ocean State Theatre will be presented at Ocean State Theatre on Sunday, March 13 at 7:30 p.m. The theatre is located at 1245 Jefferson Boulevard, Warwick. All tickets are $29. OSTC 2015-16 Season Subscribers qualify for a $5 discount for each ticket ordered at the box office or over the phone (Discount not available online.) Tickets are on sale at the box office Monday through Friday from 12 noon-6 p.m., Saturdays from 12 noon-4 p.m. and from 12 noon until curtain on performance days. Tickets are also available online 24 hours a day at www.OceanStateTheatre.org and via telephone during normal box office hours by calling 921-6800.
