Benjamin H. Melton, Jr.

Benjamin H. Melton, Jr., 79, passed away August 30, 2012 at home. He was the beloved husband of Catherine A. (Tainsh) Melton for 55 years.

Born in Woodlawn, Virginia, he was the son of the late Benjamin H. and Elsie (Allen) Melton and was a Warwick resident for many years. Mr. Melton was employed as a machine mechanic and lead man for General Electric for 32 years before retiring. He was a Korean War Navy Veteran and served with the Seabees.

Besides his wife; he is survived by two sons, Thomas J. Melton and Joseph T. Melton, one daughter, Mary Ellen Carey; two sisters, Jewell Reynolds and Lucybell Denton; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Robert Melton, Adrian Barr, and Helen Whitaker.

His funeral will be held Tuesday September 4, 2012 at 9 a.m. from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Rita Church, Oakland Beach Ave. at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours Monday 4-8 p.m.
