Had a good reaction to my selections on best burgers, so I thought I would give you my thoughts on fish ‘n’ chips. (A reader told us that Ozzie’s in Warwick had closed.)
Once again, our favorite spot for fried fish, like quality “chopped steak,” is Twin Oaks, where the greaseless fish hangs over the plate. Order it with a side of pasta and skip the chips.
Our two favorite take-out places are both in Warwick: Dockside on Warwick Ave, where they have an extra cash register to handle the Friday crowds; and Captain’s Catch in the center of Apponaug, where the lines are long but the service is quick.
We told you recently of our discovery that Vivaldi’s pizza on Broad St. in Edgewood has the best fish ‘n’ chips in Cranston. We also recommend Horton’s at Six Corners in East Providence. They also have the best tartar sauce. We also like the fish ‘n’ chips at Carousel in Oakland Beach.
O’Roarkes, in Pawtuxet Village, has a fish wrap that is out of this world.
If you feel like traveling, check out Anthony’s in Middletown. The combination restaurant and fish market is the favorite for the locals.
