Better than a shovel

While it is more than 30 years old and has been in and out of the city garage for repairs, the city was still able to put its Bomadier to work clearing sidewalks on Sandy Lane Tuesday. As for property owners clearing walks in front of their homes, the city has posted on its website a list of “priority walks” that property owners need to clear within 72 hours of a snowstorm. Fortunately, Monday’s story wasn’t as bad as forecast and by Wednesday much of the six inches of snow was gone. Behind the wheel of the Bomadier is Paul Medeiros of the Department of Public Works.

So, cleaning the sidewalks has to be done for the safety of our children. I agree. How about we replace the old, broken down equipment and get something that will do the job. What will it take, a child lying dead in the road because the sidewalk cleaner is broken again?
