Betty Lou (Anderson) Gilmartin, 72, of Saunderstown, passed away, at home on February 28, 2014. She was the wife of the late Joseph T. Gilmartin, III.

Born in Cranston, she was the daughter of the late Arthur G. Anderson and Winifred (Peck) McCauley. Mrs. Gilmartin was employed with the North Kingstown School Department for many years until her retirement. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, devoted to her family. She was a member of the North Kingstown United Methodist Church, an avid sports fan, and enjoyed attending sporting events for her children and grandchildren. She took great pride in being their greatest fan, whether it was on the field, court, mat or stage, attending where ever and whenever they played. She was an ever present fixture on the sideline and in the audience.

She leaves her five loving children: Linda J. Hancock and her husband, Reuben of Cumberland, Patricia A. Ponte and her husband, Anthony of Wakefield, Joseph A. Gilmartin of Narragansett, Judy L. Gilmartin of North Kingstown, and Robyn Gail Gilmartin of Bath, New Hampshire. She was the cherished grandmother of 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sister of Thomas E. Anderson of Warwick and Raymond A. Anderson of Tunnel Hill, Georgia.

Her Funeral Service will be held Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in The North Kingstown United Methodist Church, 450 Boston Neck Road, North.Kingstown. Burial will follow in Pawtuxet Memorial Park, Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in The Cranston-Murphy Funeral Home of Wickford, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown.
