Hendricken couldn’t get by rival La Salle for the boys’ title at the 48th annual Dartmouth Relays, held at Dartmouth College’s Leverone Fieldhouse in Hanover, New Hampshire, over the weekend.

The Rhode Island powers took the top two team prizes, with the Rams emerging victorious by a narrow margin.

Abe Salako was the lone Hawk to post a first-place performance, winning the weight throw event with a toss of 60 feet, 10.25 inches.

However, it was Hendricken’s team effort and depth that pushed it towards the top.

Ethan Famiano and Joe Santos took third and fourth, respectively, in the 55-meter hurdles, Harry Antone finished third in the 600-meter run and Sean Meehan placed fifth in the two-mile run.

On top of the individual accomplishments, all five of the Hawks’ relay teams scored to cap an impressive weekend in New Hampshire for Hendricken.

Famiano, Ethan Pezzullo, Russell White and Desmond Bernal made up the 4x200 team, Bernal, Antone, Duwuan Edwards and Robert Merlino ran and 4x400 relay and the 4x800 quartet was comprised of Matt St. Jean, Jordan Dagrin, Jeffrey Venter and Dylan Manning.

Hendricken will return to in-state action when it competes in a dual meet at the Providence Career and Technical Academy on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
