Hendricken Hosts Computer Summer Camp

Bishop Hendricken hosted a week long computer

camp for students age 11-14 camp introduced

students to all aspects of high technology computing.

Nineteen students took part in this camp and

learned about the fundamentals of hardware and software.

After becoming proficient in the basics, the students

then were able to pursue more advanced topics of their

own choosing. Among the topics students worked on were

virtualization ( simulating real word objects ), computer

chess, flight simulation, video game development, web

page design, computer programming, smart phone programming,

spreadsheet and presentation software, building a computer,

supercomputers and advanced operating systems.

In addition, students watched sci-fi movies and discussed

the technology. One of the main goals of the camp was

to give students a chance to be creative and sci-fi movies

let the students dream of new technologies.

Students were instructed in the proper use of computer

tool kits, and were able to upload and download materials

from the cloud.

Additional camps are being scheduled this summer. For
