Hendricken Hosts Computer Summer Camp
Bishop Hendricken hosted a week long computer
camp for students age 11-14 camp introduced
students to all aspects of high technology computing.
Nineteen students took part in this camp and
learned about the fundamentals of hardware and software.
After becoming proficient in the basics, the students
then were able to pursue more advanced topics of their
own choosing. Among the topics students worked on were
virtualization ( simulating real word objects ), computer
chess, flight simulation, video game development, web
page design, computer programming, smart phone programming,
spreadsheet and presentation software, building a computer,
supercomputers and advanced operating systems.
In addition, students watched sci-fi movies and discussed
the technology. One of the main goals of the camp was
to give students a chance to be creative and sci-fi movies
let the students dream of new technologies.
Students were instructed in the proper use of computer
tool kits, and were able to upload and download materials
from the cloud.
