Boucher named executive director of State Democratic Party

Warwick native Jonathan Boucher has been named executive director of the State Democratic Party. Boucher has been serving as interim executive director since May of 2013 following the departure of former executive director Stephanie Mandeville.

In his role as executive director, Boucher will continue to head the day-to-day operations of the Party and implement a grassroots campaign strategy to ensure Democratic victories up and down the ticket in 2014, including electing the first Democratic governor in 25 years.

“I am thrilled to welcome Jonathan into his new role as Executive Director. He has been with the State Party for two and a half years and brings an extensive knowledge of party structure, grassroots organizing and key players within the Democratic Party,” said Party Chairman David Caprio in a release. “I’m excited to be working with him towards building a stronger, unified Party as we enter into 2014.”

“It has been an honor to work with the Rhode Island Democratic Party over the past two years in my capacity as Field Director, especially during such a successful presidential election year in 2012. I’m looking forward to working alongside Chairman Caprio and all of our great Democratic candidates as we lead up to an exciting election year in 2014,” Boucher said of his new role.

Boucher previously served as field director of the Party before taking over as interim executive director in May. Jonathan received his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Rhode Island in 2009. His salary will be set at $50,000.
