A month after the grand opening of Keep the Faith Consignment Shop on West Shore Road, owner Laurie Beaumier is hopeful for the future of the store. Keep the Faith’s clean, bright, yellow interior mirrors the cheerfulness of Beaumier, who is a humble and caring woman.

On April 1 Beaumier got the keys to the old tanning salon and in a little less than two weeks transformed the sponge-painted hot pink building into a beautifully inviting consignment shop for women and children by the grand opening on April 12. Forty friends and family, including Mayor Avedisian, attended the ribbon-cutting event.

Three years ago Laurie Beaumier was diagnosed with breast cancer and had an eight-month long battle, coming out the victor on the other side knowing she wanted to help people. Her experience fighting breast cancer inspired her consignment store’s name, Keep the Faith.

When she isn’t running her own store, Beaumier works as a manager at the J. Arthur Trudeau Center for individuals with disabilities in Warwick. She has participated in the Gloria Gemma 5K in Providence and in 2012 had a team with her family for the Relay For Life fundraiser hosted at Toll Gate High School’s track. Together, she and her family raised about $800.

In Beaumier’s charitable nature, her consignment store offers consignors the option to have their goods donated to a charitable cause if they have not been sold after the 90-day consignment period. When asked the driving force behind Keep the Faith Beaumier responded, “I do this to help others and to help myself”

Keep The Faith started in Beaumier’s basement only several months ago. In the middle of January she set her mind on opening a consignment shop for women and children and began working towards an opening.

“I just started saving clothes in my basement and it filled up pretty quickly,” Beaumier said.

Beaumier’s dedication produced a beautiful, well thought out consignment shop in less than six months from the moment she decided to go forward with Keep the Faith. In only the first month Keep the Faith has 25 consignors under contract. Beaumier estimates about 200 people have been to the store since its opening last month. So far, Beaumier believes she is doing $50 to $75 in sales a day at Keep the Faith.

Beaumier’s daughter, Andreana Amaral, is also selling goods and has samples at Keep the Faith from her own business, Andi’s Creations. She creates and sells centerpieces, gifts and favors for bridal and baby showers. The mother-daughter team is hoping to expand on the business side of their relationship.

“I would love to see her and I have a mother-daughter shop. She does what he enjoys and I do what I enjoy.”

Beaumier is hoping that Keep the Faith will continue to grow and she will be able to take care of the store full time.

“Keep smiling every day; it helps yourself and other people. Never forget to live your life to the fullest and enjoy your family and friends,” Beaumier said with a smile. This is the driving force behind Beaumier’s optimism, charitable nature and opening Keep the Faith.

Consignors with Keep the Faith receive 40 percent of what their goods are sold for and Keep the Faith will retain 60 percent. If consignors give the money earned from their goods back to Keep the Faith they receive five percent off future purchases from the store.
