Brendan McNamara named ‘Hendricken Man of The Year’

Posted

Brendan McNamara, a Warwick resident, is the winner of the 2013 Bishop Hendricken High School Man of The Year award.

The award is one of the most prestigious honors a Hendricken student can receive, and it is determined by a vote of Hendricken faculty and the senior class. The award has been given out since the first graduating class in 1962.

McNamara, who attended Hoxsie Elementary and Aldrich Junior High School, is set to graduate magna cum laude from Hendricken next month, and is a member of the Rhode Island Honor Society and National Honor Society, Blessed Edmund Rice Chapter.

McNamara is a former member of Hendricken’s hockey team and a current member of the track and field team. He placed fourth in pole vault and sixth in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles at the Central Division championships last week.

A talented performer, McNamara has been a part of Hendricken’s Young Men’s Chorus and in the cast for several school productions, most recently taking on the role of Fagin in the April production of “Oliver!”

McNamara will speak in front of the Hendricken community at Honors Convocation on May 22 and again at the Senior Breakfast on June 2.
