Bridge Technical Talent is very proud to announce that on Saturday, April 20, 2013, they recycled nearly 4 ½ tons of electronic waste, almost 1 ½ more tons than their 2012 spring drive.
Members from the community were lined up, even on a rainy and windy spring day, to drop off their e-Waste. From huge standard television sets to a cool vintage record cabinet, the drive gathered 8,912 pounds of electronics that will now be properly recycled.
A huge thank you is owed to Office Recycling Solutions, who partnered with Bridge on drive number five, not only donating the use of their trucks and employees’ time but also taking on the responsibility of sustainably disposing of all the e-Waste collected through the event.
Almost 1,300 pounds of paper were shredded at the event as well, courtesy of Affordable Shredding, Inc. Bridge would like to thank all of the participants from the community who helped make this event such a big win for the environment in the spirit of Earth Day 2013! Bridge is also grateful to Texas Roadhouse of Warwick for hosting another busy drive in their parking lot.
Bridge was able to achieve their most successful e-Waste Drive yet thanks to another excellent turnout from the community along with the involvement of the event’s corporate participants. Bridge would like to wholeheartedly thank Brave River Solutions, a repeat sponsor of the company’s e-Waste Drives, and Dave’s Marketplace for taking positive environmental action this spring, contributing loads of e-Waste items to be properly disposed through the drive. Both companies also made generous donations to the event’s fundraising cause.
Through this drive, Bridge raised $1,249 in donations to Oceans of Grace, the outreach ministry of First Lutheran Church of East Greenwich. The funds will be invested directly back into the community, as Oceans of Grace supports local people in need through outreach activities revolving around the three major themes of food, clothing and shelter.
Bridge’s biannual e-Waste Drive tradition helps reduce the amount of hazardous electronic waste that ends up in community landfills, cutting communities’ dumping costs and protecting the environment while raising money for a good cause. Bridge plans to host their sixth e-Waste Drive on Saturday, October 5, 2013, same time and place.
