The Gaspee Days Arts and Craft Festival was the place to be over the near perfect weekend … especially if you were looking for that special accessory – whether temporary or permanent – for your personal being or just for fun for the home. Gaspee Days continues with the colonial encampment, starting June 8 at Pawtuxet Park and fireworks that night from Salter’s Grove Park. The following morning kicks off with the ecumenical service at Trinity Episcopal Church at 8 and the 5K road race at 9:45. The 47th Annual Parade steps off at 10 a.m. with more activities planned for Pawtuxet Park that afternoon. Sunday brings the conclusion of the celebration commemorating the burning of the British schooner Gaspee in June 1772. Following military maneuvers and a uniform fashion show that afternoon at Pawtuxet Park, there will be the symbolic burning of the Gaspee in the cove.
