Antique Truck Show
The Little Rhody Chapter of ATCA is sponsoring the 8th Annual Antique Truck Show Aug. 28 from 7 a.m.-3 p.m., rain or shine, at the RI-CONN Historical Air Field, 2357 Plainfield Pike, Coventry. Entry fee is $5 per show vehicle plus a canned good for the RI Community Food Bank. Visitors admission is four or more canned goods or $5 per vehicle. All antique trucks, antique tractors, equipment, engines, antique autos, vintage motorcycles and more. There will be no judging and vehicles will be parked in their own classes. Antique planes will be on display and they will have several fly in to attend the show. Also a flea market. Food and refreshments will be available, with live entertainment, games and more. Shopping for House of Hope CDC
Macy's annual shop for a cause event is held around the nation every year, helping local nonprofits raise money for their cause. This year on Aug. 27, shoppers in Rhode Island can support House of Hope CDC by shopping at their local Macy's.
To participate, shoppers must buy a $5 shopping pass from House of Hope CDC for exclusive savings to be used in-store or online on Aug. 27. Foster Parrots Open House
The Foster Parrots in Hope Valley will have an open house and gala fundraiser extravaganza at the Wildlife Sanctuary on Aug. 27. Developmental Screening
The Child Outreach Department of the Warwick Public Schools, in cooperation with the Volunteers of Warwick schools (VOWS), conducts regular preschool screening clinics. All Warwick preschool children between the ages of 3 and 5 are offered the Early Screening Inventory-Revised (ESI-R). This is a free service provided by the Warwick Public Schools. Participation in a Developmental Screening is a long established program of the Warwick School Department that provides families with information about their child's development and offers information about community resources. The Donate Shop is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit thrift store that provides free clothing to families in crisis. Domestic Violence Volunteers
The Elizabeth Buffum Chace Center (EBCC) is currently seeking volunteers for their Speakers Bureau. All volunteers will be trained to provide outreach, as a representative of EBCC, to communities in their service area through attendance at health and community fairs and by fulfilling requests for informational speaking engagements. Volunteers will receive thorough and specialized training under the supervision of the agency services coordinator before beginning this work. Fife and Drum Corps
