YMCA Here to Help
The Kent County YMCA is open. For parents who need to work while schools are still closed they will provide daily care until the public schools reopen. Available from 6:30 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Kent County Y-Champlin Lodge. Register at the Y Welcome center. The cost for currently registered Y school-aged child care participants no extra charge. For Kent YMCA members $35 daily.
Shower for those in communities still without power, they invite you to use the locker rooms during the folloing times: 5-7:30 a.m., 1-4 p.m. and 7:30-8:45 p.m. The Spray Park will be open to the community free of charge Tuesday through Friday from 12-8 p.m. Come to the Y to recharge your cell phone, laptop or other electronic devise. Photo ID and signed waiver required for all service.

St. Kevin's Festival Days
St. Kevin's Parish, 333 Sandy Lane, will have a festival Sept. 2-5. On Sept. 2 rides & food booths open from 5-11 p.m., Sept. 3 rides and food booths open from 6-11 p.m., Sept. 4, rides and food booths open from 3-10 p.m. and Sept. 5, rides and food booths open from 1-6 p.m. Ride specials daily, face painting, 101 Raffle, basket raffle, pull tabs. Food will include meatball sandwiches, sausage & pepper sandwiches, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, chili dogs, french fries and cheese fries.

Rescheduled Oakland Beach Yard Sale
The Oakland Beach Neighborhood Watch Community Yard Sale is rescheduled to Sept. 3 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. at the JONAH Community Center, 830 Oakland Beach Ave. Participants inside $10, outside $5. New Date Antique Truck Show
The Little Rhody Chapter of ATCA is sponsoring the 8th Annual Antique Truck Show Sept. 11 from 7 a.m.-3 p.m., rain or shine, at the RI-CONN Historical Air Field, 2357 Plainfield Pike, Coventry. Entry fee is $5 per show vehicle plus a canned good for the RI Community Food Bank. Visitors admission is four or more canned goods or $5 per vehicle. All antique trucks, antique tractors, equipment, engines, antique autos, vintage motorcycles and more. There will be no judging and vehicles will be parked in their own classes. Antique planes will be on display and they will have several fly in to attend the show. Also a flea market. Food and refreshments will be available, with live entertainment, games and more. No one is allowed on the showgrounds on Saturday unless you call 647-7226. No pets, alcoholic beverages or pedal bikes.

Yard Sale Fundraiser
The Pet Refuge, a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter located at 500 Stony Lane, North Kingstown, is holding a huge yard sale Sept. 3 from 9-3 p.m. (rain date Sept. 10). Large assortment of household items, small pieces of furniture, lots of books, CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes and much more. Donation are greatly appreciated and can be dropped of at the Pet Refuge Monday-Saturday between 10:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. For more information call 294-1115.

Free Family Fun Days
Admission to the Audubon Society of Rhode Island's Environmental Education Center will be free on the first Saturday of every month, courtesy of a grant from the Citizens Bank Foundation. Families can explore environmental exhibits representing Rhode Island's divers habitats, from upland meadow and cornfields to wetlands, salt marshes and the Narragansett Bay shoreline. Scituated on the 28-acre McIntosh Wildlife Refuge, visitors can enjoy beautiful nature trails. On Sept. 3 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. the Audubon Environmental Education Center, 1401 Hope St., Bristol will be open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. with Nature Craft from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Nature Story from 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and Creature Feature at 1:30 p.m.

Blessing of Backpacks
Blessing of Backpacks with prayers for students and teachers will be held during the Sept. 4 10 a.m. service at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 111 West Shore Rd. All students of any age are invited to bring their backpacks to church to receive a special blessing and prayer for the start of the school year. Neighbors and friends in the community are welcome to attend.

E.G. Art Festival
As part of the annual Labor Day Arts weekend, the East Greenwich Art Festival will host over 100 contemporary American craft artists along with strolling entertainment, festive food and a farmers market all along Rector St. and Church St. next to Academy Field, East Greenwich, on Sept. 4 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Shofar Factory
Fashion your very own Shofar from a real animal horn as you learn the entire process from the cooking to the final polishing. (Sorry, they will not be hunting live rams). E.G. Art Club
The East Greenwich Art Club will meet Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. ah First Baptist Church, 30 Pierce St., East Greenwich. The demonstrator, Theresa Girard, award winning mixed media, abstract artist, author and teacher will present a demo and some of her artwork. Members of the club will be exhibiting their artwork at the Warwick Museum of Art, 3259 Post Rd., Warwick (Apponaug).

Beginner Line Line Dance Classes

Beginner Line Dance Classes will be held every Monday Night from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Tri City Elks Lodge, 1915 West Shore Rd.. All ages welcome. $5 per person. All proceeds benefit Elk Charities. For more info call Lori at 206-3618.

Conimicut Village Association

Cornerstone Church

Old Warwick Grange #41
The Grange is a fraternal community service, non-profit organization with a special interest in rural life and the traditions of faith, patriotism, leadership and family values. Grange-where the whole family can go and grow. Help them to help others. The meetings are held on the third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. No meetings in July or August. The Grange hall is located at 1175 West Shore Rd.

Developmental Screening
The Child Outreach Department of the Warwick Public Schools, in cooperation with the Volunteers of Warwick schools (VOWS), conducts regular preschool screening clinics. All Warwick preschool children between the ages of 3 and 5 are offered the Early Screening Inventory-Revised (ESI-R). This is a free service provided by the Warwick Public Schools. Participation in a Developmental Screening is a long established program of the Warwick School Department that provides families with information about their child's development and offers information about community resources. Free Sunday Lunch
St. Paul Lutheran Church, 389 Greenwich Ave., is offering a free lunch for anyone in need of a meal or companionship. All are welcome every Sunday from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. For more information call 737-6758.

Rhode Island Pet Bird Club

There will be Bingo at Sparrows Point III, 355 Hardig Rd., every Wednesday starting April 6. Doors open at 4 p.m., bingo starts promptly at 6 p.m.

Photographic Society of RI

The Photographic Society of Rhode Island welcomes camera enthusiasts of all abilities. Meetings are held on the second, third and fourth Tuesday of each month, September through May at Lakewood Baptist Church, 255 Atlantic Ave. For more information visit www.psri.us.

There will be bingo every Friday at 6:45 p.m. at Meadowbrook Terrace on Warwick Ave. in the Community Hall.

Donate Shop
The Donate Shop is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit thrift store that provides free clothing to families in crisis. They are an all volunteer organization that relies solely on the support of the community to continue this endeavor. The shop has a new location at 400 Warwick Ave., Unit #14, between Dunkin Donuts and Shaw's. They are open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The phone number is 533-9944, the website is www.thedonateshop.org and “Like” them on Facebook for special updates.

Gambling Counseling Offered
Bridgemark now offers individual, group and family counseling for problem gambling. If you or a loved one is experiencing difficulties as a result of gambling, call for discreet and confidential assistance, 781-2700. Deaf services are also available; call their videophone number 1-866-730-9573.

Domestic Violence Volunteers
The Elizabeth Buffum Chace Center (EBCC) is currently seeking volunteers for their Speakers Bureau. All volunteers will be trained to provide outreach, as a representative of EBCC, to communities in their service area through attendance at health and community fairs and by fulfilling requests for informational speaking engagements. Volunteers will receive thorough and specialized training under the supervision of the agency services coordinator before beginning this work. Fife and Drum Corps
The Kentish Guards Fife and Drum Corps rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7-9 p.m. at the Kentish Guards Armory on Pierce St. in East Greenwich. Free lessons on playing the fife are provided to men and young men interested in joining the corps.

Fife & Drum Corps
Join the Pawtuxet Rangers Fife & Drum Corps of Warwick and continue the great tradition of Colonial/Revolutionary history through music. The Fife & Drum Corps meets every Wednesday night at Wyman Elementary School from 6:30-8 p.m. The corps is open to anyone over the age of 12. Drum and fife instruction is available to beginners.
