Toll Gate Open House
On Oct. 6, Toll Gate High School will hold its open house. There will be a meeting of all parents starting at 6 p.m. in the Robert J. Shapiro Cultural Arts Center. Mr. Chrabaszcz, principal, will address parents on various topics of interest. A short question and answer period will be held at this time as well. Mrs. Sharon Garber, president of the PTSA, will also address parents. Beginning at 6:30 p.m. all parents will report to their child's advisory period. Advisors will distribute students' schedules. After advisory, parents will follow the schedules and will have the opportunity to make appointments with teachers. The evening will conclude at 8:30 p.m.
The Meadowlark Seniors will meet on Oct. 6 at 1:30p.m. in St. Kevin's Hall. A flea market will follow the meeting. Bakers are Barbara Lundh, Jean Medeiros, Kate Marshall and Eva Massie.

Oldies Music Dance
There will be an Oldies Music Dance at the American Legion Post 15, 1016 Main St., East Greenwich, on Oct. 7 from 7-11p.m. The band will be Looking Back. Donation is $7.
The Pet Refuge, a non-profit, no-kill Animal Shelter located in North Kingstown is holding their 5th Annual Silent Auction Oct. 8 from 5:30a.m.-8p.m. at the Cold Spring Community, 30 Beach St, Wickford. Offered for bidding are many collectibles, artwork, gift certificates, gift baskets, gifts, handmade items and many more great Silent Auction items. There will also be a Raffle Table. Shields Post American Legion Auxiliary

Gorton Monthly Luncheon
The Gorton High School Monthly luncheon will be held on Oct. 12 at 11:30a.m. at Timmy's One Bay. The fee for luncheon is $13. Gortonites, spouses and friends are invited.

The Trudeau Recreation Proudly presents Fallfest on Oct. 14 from 7-9:30p.m. at the Larkin Recreation Building. Nearly a hundred quilt artists from Rhode Island and Connecticut will be showing their quilts at the Ninigret Quilters Guild biannual Quilt Show: Locally sewn. Robertson School Fall Festival
The Robertson Elementary School, 70 Nausauket Rd. will have a Fall Festival Craft Fair on Oct. 15 from 10a.m.-3p.m. behind the school. Your World Up Close
The macro-photography class instructed by Warwick resident Shane Gutierrez will exhibit their work at the main branch of the Warwick Public Library on Sandy Lane through Oct. 30 in a show titled "Your World Up Close." The exhibited images all reveal subjects photographed at close range using macro photography, and show intriguing, and some surprising, points of view. An opening reception will be held at the library on Oct. 15 from 2-4 p.m.

Old Warwick Grange #41
The Grange is a fraternal community service, non-profit organization with a special interest in rural life and the traditions of faith, patriotism, leadership and family values. The Child Outreach Department of the Warwick Public Schools, in cooperation with the Volunteers of Warwick schools (VOWS), conducts regular preschool screening clinics. All Warwick preschool children between the ages of 3 and 5 are offered the Early Screening Inventory-Revised (ESI-R). This is a free service provided by the Warwick Public Schools. Participation in a Developmental Screening is a long established program of the Warwick School Department that provides families with information about their child's development and offers information about community resources. The Donate Shop is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit thrift store that provides free clothing to families in crisis. Domestic Violence Volunteers
The Elizabeth Buffum Chace Center (EBCC) is currently seeking volunteers for their Speakers Bureau. All volunteers will be trained to provide outreach, as a representative of EBCC, to communities in their service area through attendance at health and community fairs and by fulfilling requests for informational speaking engagements. Volunteers will receive thorough and specialized training under the supervision of the agency services coordinator before beginning this work. Fife and Drum Corps
The Kentish Guards Fife and Drum Corps rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7-9 p.m. at the Kentish Guards Armory on Pierce St. in East Greenwich. Free lessons on playing the fife are provided to men and young men interested in joining the corps.
