Family Advocacy Network
Members of the Family Advocacy Network are hosting a Legislative Forum for information and education about services for people with developmental disabilities on Jan. 21 from 10:30 a.m.-12 noon at CCRI Warwick Campus. Members of the Rhode Island Legislature are invited to meet their constituents who are concerned about services to people with developmental disabilities and the maintenance of adequate funding. There will be personal stories shared that demonstrate the impact of $24 million in funding cuts to developmental disabilities services.

Babe Ruth Baseball Registration
Apponaug Babe Ruth Baseball League will hold its second registration for the upcoming 2012 season on Jan. 21 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Police Community Room at the Warwick Police Station. St. Rose of Lima Registration
The St. Rose of Lima School, 200 Brentwood Ave., will begin new student registration for the 2012-2013, PreK-grade 8 Jan. 23 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the school. GFWC Warwick Women's Club
The GFWC Warwick Women's Club will meet Jan. 24 at 7 p.m. at the Elizabeth Buffum Chace center. Members will be making Valentines for veterans to be distributed to the Veterans Hospital and retirement homes for veterans on Valentine's Day. Refreshments will be available. Brothers, Sisters and Special Needs
Brothers, Sisters and Special Needs will be presented by Debra Lobato, PhD. Jan. 25 from 7-9 p.m. at the Warwick School Administration Building, 34 Warwick Lake Ave. When a child has a chronic illness or disability, everyone in the family is affected, including siblings. Dr. Lobato will discuss how a child's special needs may affect brothers and sisters (in both positive and negative ways) and will provide strategies for families that will help them bring out the best in siblings. Audience participation and discussion of family experience is encouraged. To register call or text Jessica Schad at 474-3744. Seating is limited to the first 50 registrations. This workshop is free and open to the public and is sponsored by the Warwick special Education Advisory Committee.

Friends of Warwick Animal Shelter
The Friends of the Warwick Animal Shelter will meet Jan. 26 at 6:30 p.m. at the Warwick Public Library on Sandy Lane. They will discuss the scheduled fund-raiser and also ideas for new fund-raisers. Everyone is welcome. For more info call Brenda Nordin at 467-2692.

Children's Memorial Breakfast
On Jan. 28, the Margaret Sterling Cook Foundation will host the 4th Annual Children's Memorial Breakfast at the Crowne Plaza Hotel at the Crossings, 801 Greenwich Ave. The special event is for bereaved parents, family and friends of deceased children who died at any age, for any reason. The keynote speaker will be Ann Hood, whose book, Comfort: A Journey Through Grief, was released in 2009 and copies will be available for purchase. As part of the event, a candle lighting ceremony will commemorate each child represented. The doors will open at 9 a.m. and breakfast will be served at 9:30 a.m. The cost is $12 for adults, $7.50 for children ages 3-12, free for children under 3. Reservations and payment must be made in advance and received no later than Jan. 21. Seats are limited. Please send a check made payable to Margaret Sterling Cook Foundation, P.O. Little League Registrations
The Warwick American Little League will be having a sign-up for the 2012 season on Jan. 28 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Warwick Public Library on Sandy Lane. They will be scheduling tryouts for AAA and Majors in February so please try to make this registration if you have not yet registered. Scholarship Fund
The Rhode Island Building Industry Scholarship Fund is now accepting applications for their scholarship fund. The purpose of the fund is to aid Rhode Island residents who require financial assistance in the pursuit of education in the construction or building industry fields. Any Rhode Island resident who is unable to provide full payment of tuition or other costs for courses related to construction or building industry is eligible. Cornerstone Church
Cornerstone Church, 1990 Elmwood Ave., Warwick, is now a member of the RI Community Food Bank. Hours of operation are the first and third Saturday from 9-11 a.m. and the second and fourth Monday from 6-8 p.m. For more information call 781-6121.

Old Warwick Grange #41
The Grange is a fraternal community service, non-profit organization with a special interest in rural life and the traditions of faith, patriotism, leadership and family values. Grange-where the whole family can go and grow. Help them to help others. The meetings are held on the third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. No meetings in July or August. The Grange hall is located at 1175 West Shore Rd.

Developmental Screening
The Child Outreach Department of the Warwick Public Schools, in cooperation with the Volunteers of Warwick schools (VOWS), conducts regular preschool screening clinics. All Warwick preschool children between the ages of 3 and 5 are offered the Early Screening Inventory-Revised (ESI-R). This is a free service provided by the Warwick Public Schools. Participation in a Developmental Screening is a long established program of the Warwick School Department that provides families with information about their child's development and offers information about community resources. Free Sunday Lunch
St. Paul Lutheran Church, 389 Greenwich Ave., is offering a free lunch for anyone in need of a meal or companionship. All are welcome every Sunday from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. For more information call 737-6758.

Rhode Island Pet Bird Club

Donate Shop
The Donate Shop is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit thrift store that provides free clothing to families in crisis. They are an all-volunteer organization that relies solely on the support of the community to continue this endeavor. The shop has a new location at 400 Warwick Ave., Unit #14, between Dunkin Donuts and Shaw's. Gambling Counseling Offered

Domestic Violence Volunteers
The Elizabeth Buffum Chace Center (EBCC) is currently seeking volunteers for their Speakers Bureau. All volunteers will be trained to provide outreach, as a representative of EBCC, to communities in their service area through attendance at health and community fairs and by fulfilling requests for informational speaking engagements. Volunteers will receive thorough and specialized training under the supervision of the agency services coordinator before beginning this work. Fife and Drum Corps
The Kentish Guards Fife and Drum Corps rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7-9 p.m. at the Kentish Guards Armory on Pierce St. in East Greenwich. Free lessons on playing the fife are provided to men and young men interested in joining the corps.

Fife & Drum Corps
Join the Pawtuxet Rangers Fife & Drum Corps of Warwick and continue the great tradition of Colonial/Revolutionary history through music. The Fife & Drum Corps meets every Wednesday night at Wyman Elementary School from 6:30-8 p.m. The corps is open to anyone over the age of 12. Drum and fife instruction is available to beginners.
