Colon Cancer Awareness Walk/Run
The local Colon Cancer Awareness organization will hold its fourth annual 5K Walk/Run to raise awareness and funds on Aug. 5 at Warwick City Park. Check-in and registration starts at 9 a.m. and walk/run will begin at 10 a.m. The event is the organization’s annual major event. Registration is available by calling 739-5623.
Bella 23 Foundation
To honor and memorialize Bella DiPalma, and in recognition of her 18th birthday and anniversary of her passing, a co-ed soccer tournament and raffle will be held at Teamworks Warwick, 170 Jefferson Blvd., Aug. 4 from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. The entry fee is $225 per team. The Mishnock Wish Team will sponsor its 2nd Annual "Wheels for Wishes" Classic Car Show Aug. 5 on the grass at Mishnock Barn on Lake Mishnock, 200 Mishnock Rd., West Greenwich. Antique cars, classic cars to 1989, rods, muscle cars and all year corvettes are invited to exhibit. Vehicle registration is from 9 a.m.-12 noon with free goody bags to the first 100 entries. The entry fee is $15 per car. Spectators are free to roam the show. Enjoy oldies music by Cruisin' Bruce Palmer. Trophies will be awarded at 2 p.m. in 28 classes, including Best of Show, Peoples Choice and Best Club participation. Door prizes, 50/50 raffle, food and refreshments will be available.
Music in the Village
The Conimicut Village Association Band will make its musical debut Aug. 5 at 4 p.m. in the grassy area behind Woodbury Union Church. Bring a chair (and a dish to share if you wish) and enjoy come music. Hot dogs and hamburgers will be provided by the church.

Pig Roast Fundraiser
The Navy Seabees Veterans of America, Island X-1 Davisville, will have a Pig Roast Fundraiser Aug. 6 at 11:30 a.m. at the Seabee Museum and Memorial Park, 21 Iafrate Way, North Kingstown. $30 per person for adults, $15 for children under 12. The event is in support of the 2013 Navy Seabees Veterans of America National Convention to held in Rhode Island. Please purchase tickets by Aug. 6. The Child Outreach Department of the Warwick Public Schools, in cooperation with the Volunteers of Warwick schools (VOWS), conducts regular preschool screening clinics. All Warwick preschool children between the ages of 3 and 5 are offered the Early Screening Inventory-Revised (ESI-R). This is a free service provided by the Warwick Public Schools. Participation in a Developmental Screening is a long established program of the Warwick School Department that provides families with information about their child's development and offers information about community resources. The Donate Shop is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit thrift store that provides free clothing to families in crisis. They are an all-volunteer organization that relies solely on the support of the community to continue this endeavor. The shop has a new location at 400 Warwick Ave., Unit #14, between Dunkin Donuts and Shaw's. Fife and Drum Corps
The Kentish Guards Fife and Drum Corps rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7-9 p.m. at the Kentish Guards Armory on Pierce St. in East Greenwich. Free lessons on playing the fife are provided to men and young men interested in joining the corps.
Fife & Drum Corps
Join the Pawtuxet Rangers Fife & Drum Corps of Warwick and continue the great tradition of Colonial/Revolutionary history through music. The Fife & Drum Corps meets every Wednesday night at Wyman Elementary School from 6:30-8 p.m. The corps is open to anyone over the age of 12. Drum and fife instruction is available to beginners.
