Huge Yard Sale
The Pet Refuge, a No-Kill Animal Shelter, is holding a huge yard sale on Sept. 1 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (rain date is Sept. 8) at 500 Stony Lane, North Kingstown. Large selection of household items, odd pieces of furniture, toys, like new children and adult clothing, lots of books, CDs, DVDs and VHS tapes. Donations are greatly appreciated and can be dropped off at the Pet Refuge Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call 294-1115.

Brown Alumnae Fall Meeting
The Fall meeting of the Brown Alumnae Club of Kent County will be held on Sept. 12 at 11:30 a.m. at Norma's home, 1191 North Rd. Jamestown. Following luncheon there, the group will tour Doris Duke's Newport Home from 2 to 3:15 p.m. The cost is $25 for lunch and tour. Please include membership dues of $20, mailed to Anne Wright. Reservations are due by Sept. 5.

VA Benefits Workshop

Help for Victims of Crime

Training for Volunteer Tax Counselors
The Rhode Island AARP Tax-Aide program is scheduling training for new and returning volunteers. Training will be conducted at the Cranston Public Library on Thursdays beginning Sept. 6 from 9 a.m. to noon. The comprehensive 9-week course is designed to train volunteers to become certified to prepare most types of personal tax returns. Ladies, Would You be Interested

Old Warwick Grange #41
The Grange is a fraternal community service, non-profit organization with a special interest in rural life and the traditions of faith, patriotism, leadership and family values. Grange – where the whole family can go and grow. Help them to help others. The meetings are held on the third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. No meetings in July or August. The Grange hall is located at 1175 West Shore Rd.

Developmental Screening
The Child Outreach Department of the Warwick Public Schools, in cooperation with the Volunteers of Warwick Schools (VOWS), conducts regular preschool screening clinics. All Warwick preschool children between the ages of 3 and 5 are offered the Early Screening Inventory-Revised (ESI-R). This is a free service provided by the Warwick Public Schools. Participation in a Developmental Screening is a long established program of the Warwick School Department that provides families with information about their child's development and offers information about community resources. Free Sunday Lunch
St. Paul Lutheran Church, 389 Greenwich Ave., is offering a free lunch for anyone in need of a meal or companionship. All are welcome every Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For more information, call 737-6758.

Rhode Island Pet Bird Club

Photographic Society of RI

Donate Shop
The Donate Shop is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit thrift store that provides free clothing to families in crisis. They are an all-volunteer organization that relies solely on the support of the community to continue this endeavor. The shop has a new location at 400 Warwick Ave., Unit #14, between Dunkin’ Donuts and Shaw's. Fife and Drum Corps
The Kentish Guards Fife and Drum Corps rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kentish Guards Armory on Pierce St. in East Greenwich. Free lessons on playing the fife are provided to men and young men interested in joining the corps.

Fife & Drum Corps
Join the Pawtuxet Rangers Fife & Drum Corps of Warwick and continue the great tradition of Colonial/Revolutionary history through music. The Fife & Drum Corps meets every Wednesday night at Wyman Elementary School from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The corps is open to anyone over the age of 12. Drum and fife instruction is available to beginners.
