OBCNWA Meeting

The Oakland Beach Crime and Neighborhood Watch Association will be having their monthly meeting March 28 at 6:30 p.m. at JONAH, 830 Oakland Beach Ave. The presentation by George Davis will be Awareness to help develop the skill and knowledge for being more mindful of your surroundings.

Pilgrim Senior Center Events

The Pilgrim Senior Enrichment Center, located at 27 Pilgrim Parkway, offers educational, nutritional and recreational programs to folks 55 years of age and older. The center is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

The center will be closed at noon Friday, March 29.

AARP Income Tax Preparation

Trained AARP volunteers will be at the center to help seniors and low income individuals with income tax filing. Appointments are necessary by calling the Welcome Desk at 468-4071. Appointments are on Thursdays and Fridays, 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. until April 12 and will be filed electronically. There is not an option for paper filing this year at the center.

Property Tax Relief

If you need assistance with preparing the 1040H form for Property Tax Relief, you can schedule an appointment with Kim at 468-4500. She will inform you of what paperwork to bring at the time of the appointment.

Zumba Gold

Have some fun with exercise and join the party. Zumba is a Latin-inspired, dance fitness class that incorporates international and Latin music with freeing, stress-relieving movements. It is great for the mind, body and soul; any age or fitness level is welcome. This class is held Tuesday mornings at 8:50 a.m. and the fee is $3 per class.

Zumba/Toning

This is a Zumba class using weights for toning and is held on Mondays at 6 p.m. and the fee is $45 for a 10-week session. You can register and pre-pay at the welcome desk. For more information call Holly at 468-4074.

CPR CLASS, Buttonwoods Community Center, March 19 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Free Trial Meditation Program, March 19 from 2:30-3:30. Come to this very relaxed program and learn about the health and wellness benefits that can be gained from this age old practice of meditation.No prior experience is needed. Please wear comfortable clothing. Bring a yoga mat or cushion to sit on if you would like. It is not necessary to come to the floor. Your practice can be in a chair. Linda Morse has been teaching yoga and meditation for over fifteen years. Her relaxed and humorous approach creates a safe and enjoyable setting. Register at the welcome desk for this free class. A Matter of Balance, Mondays beginning March 25 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Any older adults concerned about falls, has fallen in the past and/or anyone interested in improving balance, flexibility and strength should register now for this award winning nine-session program designed to help you manage falls and increase activity levels. The $15 fee includes program materials and a free two-month membership to the YMCA. To register call Martha Machnik at 427-1820.

Warwick Historical Society

The Warwick Historical Society meets weekly at the John Waterman Arnold House on Roger Williams Circle Wednesdays from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and every second Saturday of the month at 11 a.m-2 p.m. All are welcome and urged to become member and volunteer. Superchief Trio

On Friday, March 29, Superchief Trio will perform at the Tri City Elks, 1915 West Shore Road. $10 at the door.

Community Lunch & Food Pantry

Easter Egg Hunt

The Richmond Grange will be having an Easter Egg hunt  Saturday, March 30 at 9:30 a.m. at the Richmond Grange Hall, 690 Usquepugh Road (Route 138), West Kingston. The hunt is for children ages 2-10. Open to the public, come and enjoy crafts, fun and refreshments.

OB Easter Egg Hunt

There will be an Easter egg hunt at the Oakland Beach School playground March 30 at 12 noon sharp. Children 10 and under are welcome. Bring a basket for eggs collected. Sponsored by the Oakland Beach Association.

2013 Wednesday Senior Softball

Registration is now underway for those 57 and over to join a recreational slow-pitch softball league. All games are played at City Park in Warwick on Wednesday mornings. You do not have to be a resident of Warwick to join. The application fee is $20. Deadline for registration is April 1. The playing season is May through September. Boating Skills

The US Coast Guard Auxiliary, Division 7 1NR, Flotilla 78, based in Pawtuxet, will be holding a boating skills and seamanship course starting April 2. The classes will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7-9 p.m. at 235 Promenade St., Room 300, Providence. There will be a total of 10 classes in the course. Interested students can register for the course by calling the public education officer at 231-2441 or by attending one of two registration events being held March 26 and 28 from 7-9 p.m. at 235 Promenade St., Room 300, Providence.

Gaspee Seniors

On April 5 the Gaspee Seniors will be meeting at the Buttonwoods Community Center, West Shore Rd. in Warwick at 1:15 p.m. The activity of the day will be horseracing. Please remember to bring quarters. New members are always welcome. Call Mary Nolan at 941-5507.

Spring Bake Sale

The East Greenwich Animal Protection League will be at the Warwick Mall Community Booth for a spring bake sale April 6 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Baked goods, homemade dog and cat items and many more wonderful items will be for sale. There will also be pictures of the cats and dogs that are available for adoption as well as information about our league. Drop-off of baked goods will be Friday, April 5 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 60 Middle Road. East Greenwich, and Saturday, April 6 after 10 a.m. at the Community Booth.  EGAPL is a non-profit and all volunteer league. All proceeds will be used for the animals in their care. Frank Santorelli

See Frank Santorelli perform at the Comedy Connection in East Providence April 12 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 and most of the proceeds will go to the American Lung Association if they are purchased though Scott Shippee. Tickets must be purchased by April 5.

Puppet Show

There will be a puppet show with Miss Joan for adults and children immediately following the April 7 service at Spring Green Memorial Church, 1350 Warwick Ave., in the fellowship hall. Refreshments will be provided.

Gorton Monthly Luncheon

Spring Rummage Sale

The First Baptist Church of East Greenwich, located on the corners of Peirce and Montrose streets, will have its spring rummage sale April 12 from 4-8 p.m. and April 13 from 8 a.m. until noon. The clothes are all sizes and the household articles, even small furniture and electrical items, are in very good condition. They will have books, toys, shoes and bags, linens and so much more.

Fisherman’s Breakfast

Summit Baptist Church, 1176 Victory Highway, Greene, is having a fisherman’s breakfast Saturday, April 13, serving 4-11 a.m. East-in or take-out. Start the day with a hearty breakfast of eggs, home fries, sausage and more. Also take a snack to go for mid-morning and stop in later after your catch to fuel up for the ride home.

Bingo

There will be a bingo at St. Kevin’s Church Hall, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick, on April 13. Doors open at 5 p.m., bingo starts at 6 p.m. Fun, prizes and refreshments.

Conimicut Spring Fling

Tickets are now on sale for the Conimicut Village Association Spring Fling Fundraiser. The annual event funds the cost of the beautiful flowers that decorate the village historic light poles every summer. The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the Tri-City Elks Lodge on West Shore Road and includes dinner, music, silent auction and raffle items and door prizes. Tickets are $22 for adults and $10 for children and may be purchased at West Shore Carpets, 752 West Shore Road. Call 737-5559 for more information.
