Pilgrim Senior Center Events

The Pilgrim Senior Enrichment Center, located at 27 Pilgrim Parkway, offers educational, nutritional and recreational programs to folks 55 years of age and older. The center is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Zumba Gold: Have some fun with exercise and join the party. Zumba is a Latin-inspired, dance fitness class that incorporates international and Latin music with freeing, stress-relieving movements. It is great for the mind, body and soul; any age or fitness level is welcome. This class is held Tuesday mornings at 8:50 a.m. and the fee is $3 per class.

Zumba/Toning: This is a Zumba class using weights for toning and is held on Mondays at 6 p.m. and the fee is $45 for a 10-week session. You can register and pre-pay at the welcome desk. For more information call Holly at 468-4074.

Spring Sale

The Trustees of Spring Green Memorial Church, 1350 Warwick Ave., invite you to attend their annual spring sale May 10 and 11 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. A variety of used saleable items are reasonably priced along with baked goods and clothing. Crafting for Critters

Friends of the Warwick Animal Shelter is hosting their 2nd Annual Crafting for Critters Spring Craft Fair and Bake Sale May 11 at the Buttonwoods Community Center, 3027 West Shore Road, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Over 40 vendors will be gathered under one roof selling their wares just in time for Mother’s Day. Products for sale include stained glass, Silpada jewelry, handmade chocolates, photography, handmade candles, crafts for animal lovers, handmade jewelry, Wildtree herbs, Pampered Chef house wares, baked goods, all natural dog treats, clothing, books and more. The Greater Warwick Lions Club announces that its Academic & Community Achievement Award applications for 2013 are now available. This $500 scholarship is for high school seniors who are residents of Warwick. The Lions Club is dedicated to the concept of community service, and these awards are weighted towards students who have demonstrated a legacy of community service. Application deadline is May 15. 5K Walk-A-Thon

A 5K Walk-A-Thon to benefit One Fund Boston will take place May 18 at 9 a.m.; registration is at 8:30 at the Roger Williams Park Boathouse. Association

A general meeting will be held May 21 at 7 p.m. at the Norwood Boys & Girls Club, 43 Frederick St. The Warwick Police K9 Unit will present a very interesting demonstration featuring its two new K9-police dogs conducting criminal-tracking arrests along with demonstrating drug searching techniques. There will also be an update on the housing issues in Norwood. One Act Play Festival

Submissions are currently being accepted for the Artists’ Exchange 8th annual One Act Play Festival. Adult Watercolor

Class for Beginners

Tuesday, May 23 through June 27 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Bernadette Pace, an experienced instructor and well-known regional artist, will introduce students to basic techniques of watercolor painting learning to use the materials, blending colors, creating dynamic compositions and using watercolor to express creativity. These are encouraging and adventuresome classes for people 17 years and up who want to learn to paint, and students will start seeing things in a new way. Car Show

The North Kingstown Lions Club 3rd Annual Car Show will be hosted this year by Tarbox Toyota at 3671 Quaker Lane (Rt.2) in North Kingstown. Cause for Paws

The 6th annual “Cause for Paws” Classic Car Show will take place June 9 at the building known as 171 Service Place, located at 171 Service Rd. (off Jefferson Blvd.), Warwick (rain date is July 2). Antique cars, classic cars to 1989, rods, muscle cars and all-year Corvettes are invited to exhibit. Vehicle registration is from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, with free goodie bags and dash plaques to the first 100 entries. The entry fee is $15 per car. Spectators are free to roam the show. Enjoy oldies music by Cruisin’ Bruce Palmer. Trophies will be awarded at 2 p.m. in 28 classes, including Best of Show, Peoples Choice and Best Club Participation. Art Camp for Children 6-12
