There are various summer activities at the Pontiac Free Library.

Warwick Historical Society

The Warwick Historical Society meets weekly at the John Waterman Arnold House on Roger Williams Circle Wednesdays from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and every second Saturday of the month at 11 a.m-2 p.m. All are welcome and urged to become member and volunteer. Summer Art Camp

Kids crave creative stimulation, and Summer Art Camp will keep them busy. All workshops are taught by experienced instructors with emphasis on trying new materials, stretching imaginations and having fun in a safe, encouraging atmosphere. Best bets for registration are Cartoon Illustration (week of July 22 2-4 p.m.), Creative Collages and Making Mosaics (week of July 29, 11:30-1:30 and 2-4), Improv Comedy and Art of the World (week of Aug. 5 from 9-11 a.m.). Other workshops also have openings so call for availability. Warwick Concert Series

Your are cordially invited to a summer’s night concert on Wednesday, July 24, at 6:30 p.m. at the Norwood Gazebo on Pawtuxet Avenue, featuring Nightlife (classic rock). Food Pantry

The food pantry of Woodbury Union Church on the corner of Beach Ave. and West Shore Road in Conimicut Village will be open July 25 from 6:30-8 p.m.

Limited food items will be given out to those in need of assistance. Please use the office entrance on Carlisle St. and bring a bag if possible.

Tin Cup Junior Camps

Tin Cup Golf Course & Driving Range in Coventry. July Camp: Friday, July 26, 10 a.m.-noon. August Camp: Fridays August 2, 9, 16 and 23, 10 a.m.-noon. Ages 7 to 17 eligible. Play Festival

Artist’s Exchange will present their 8th annual One Act Play Festival Wave II July 26-Aug. 4 Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m., Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 advance, $20 at door. Making Mandalas

Warwick Museum of Art, 3259 Post Road, is holding an art workshop, Making Mandalas, July 26 at 6:30 p.m. Patty Martucci will lead an art workshop on creating colorful Mandalas, the international symbol of wholeness that connects minds and bodies to the infinite. The drop-by-and-try workshop format is for ages 12 and up, and all workshops are held inside so weather is never a factor. Cost of the workshop is $9 per person (materials included). Country & Western Variety Show

Trudeau Memorial Center presents its first country & western variety show July 26 at 11 a.m. at the Larkin Recreational Building. Music, dance, magic, roping and much more will be featured. Please arrive at 10:30 for great pre-show events.

Tri City Elks #14, 1915 West Shore Road, Warwick will present the Here Again band July 27. Tickets are $5. Band starts at 8:30; kitchen opens at 7:30.

18th Century

Encampment

There will be an 18th century encampment at Conimicut point Park July 27 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., featuring demonstrations of firing muskets and cannons and drilling. Fun for the kids practicing drills with wooden muskets, camp life and a small battle demonstration, British soldiers and colonial soldiers – a bit of history here.

Swinging Squares

Lung Association Fundraiser

Alex & Ani is hosting a fundraiser for the American Lung Association July 31 from 6-8 p.m. The store is located at 232 Main St., East Greenwich. You can stop in earlier and tell them not to ring in the item until those hours if you can’t make it during that time. Chances to win a prize. The Rhode Island Children’s Chorus will hold auditions for new chorus members Aug. 1 from 4-7 p.m. at Cardi’s Furniture, 1681 Quaker Lane (Rt. 2) West Warwick (Exit 8 off Route 95) and Aug. 3, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the RI Philharmonic Music School Carter Center, 667 Waterman Ave., East Providence. Boys and girls ages 7-18 years are invited to meet with director Dr. Christine Noel for a brief interview and vocal audition. Program

Westbay Community Action’s Education Services in Warwick will offer a summer youth employment program for young people ages 17 to 24. The program, which runs through Aug. 16, will cover work-readiness skills as well as work experience. Participants will work 20 hours a week and earn $7.75 an hour. The focus is environmental science. They will introduce beekeeping, tree stewardship and landscaping; they will not handle live bees. There will be one visit to a hive, and everyone will wear protective gear. Call 468-4065.

Registration for Girl Scouts for the school year 2013-2014 can be done online at www.gsri.org. On the second Tuesday of each month from 6-7:30 p.m., Sargent Rehabilitation Center, 800 Quaker Lane, Warwick, holds an aphasia conversation group. This group provides a supportive meeting place for people with aphasia to socialize and share their communication challenges and strategies. The Village Singers

The Village Singers, an adult vocal ensemble, is seeking new members for all voice parts: soprano, alto, tenor and baritone. The Kentish Guards Fife and Drum Corps rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7-9 p.m. at the Kentish Guards Armory on Pierce St. in East Greenwich. Free lessons on playing the fife are provided to men and young men interested in joining the corps.
