R.I. Lightning tryouts
RI Lightning is holding tryouts for their U18, U16 & U14 competitive travel teams. New players to the R.I. Lightning are strongly encouraged to attend tryouts on two days to give coaches the best opportunity to evaluate them. Youth Employment Program
Westbay Community Action’s Education Services in Warwick will offer a summer youth employment program for young people ages 17 to 24. The program, which runs through Aug. 16, will cover work-readiness skills as well as work experience. Participants will work 20 hours a week and earn $7.75 an hour. The focus is environmental science. They will introduce beekeeping, tree stewardship and landscaping; they will not handle live bees. There will be one visit to a hive, and everyone will wear protective gear. Call 468-4065.

The Conimicut Village Association is looking for vendors for their Picnic at the Park scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 17 from noon until 5 p.m. Vendor cost is $25 for a 10’ x 10’ space. Norwood Family Block Party
