West Bay Chorale

The West Bay Chorale welcomes new and former members, male and female, all ages. Toll Gate Open House

On Oct. 3 Toll Gate High School will be holding its open house. There will be a meeting of all parents at 6:15 p.m. in the Robert J. Shapiro Cultural Arts Center. Mr. Chrabaszcz will address the parents on various topics of interest. Beginning at 6:30, all parents will report to their child’s advisory period. Advisors will be distributing students’ schedules. After advisory, parents will follow the issued schedules and will have the opportunity to make appointments with teachers. The evening will conclude at 8:30.

Instructional League

Fall Ladies Only Instructional League at Tin Cup Golf Course will be held Oct. 4 and 11. Six holes of on-the-course instruction and league play each week begins Sept. 13 Fridays at 11 a.m. Lunch and prizes on Oct. 11. Featuring Rhode Island’s top golf instructors. Community Tag Sale

The Conimicut Village Association will be hosting its second community-wide tag sale on Oct. 5 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Maps can be downloaded from www.conimicutvillage.org to the locations of those participating. For residents living in Conimicut who would like to participate (this is free) and get on the list/map, email conimicutvillage@aol.com with your address or call 524-8404. Advertising will be statewide.

Dog Walk/Blessing of the Animals

The Friends of the Warwick Animal Shelter will hold its 6th annual Dog Walk and Blessing of the Animals Oct. 5 to benefit the Warwick Animal Shelter. Shelter dogs up for adoption will also be present. The event is at Warwick City Park off Ayslum Road. The fee is $10 per dog and registration is from 10:30-11:30, with walk beginning at 11:30. There are two trails, a short one and a longer one for bigger dogs. Blessings will be available until 12 noon. All dogs must be leashed and all registrants must show current rabies certificate. Chopstick Auction

A chopstick auction for Warwick Association for Affordable Assisted Living (WAAAL) will be held Oct. 5 at the Pilgrim Senior Center, 27 Pilgrim Parkway. Doors open at 12 noon, auction starts at 1:15. A Golden Chop Stick for only $10 gets you in all 75 drawings and can be purchased in advance from a board member. They can be purchased at the door. Bingo

Bingo will be held Oct. 5 at St. Kevin’s Church hall, 333 Sandy Lane. Doors open at 5 p.m., bingo starts at 6.

Historic Cemetery Cleanup

Behind Picasso’s Pizza there is a historic cemetery, Warwick Cemetery #30 - called Hart Lot - at the end of Call St. in need of minor maintenance. Only one field stone can be seen. Brush and leaves have invaded the cemetery and need to be removed. The Warwick Historic Commission is looking for volunteers to clean the cemetery on Oct. 5 at 9 a.m. Contact Connie Gliottone or Debra McDaniel at 921-4395 or cotink78@yahoo.com if you would like to help. Picasso’s is offering free food and water to participants.

Buckeye Brook Paddle

On Sunday, Oct. 6 at 9 a.m. the Buckeye Brook Coalition is doing a paddle up into Buckeye Brook, when the tide will be at 4.5 feet, which are perfect conditions. They will be leaving from the fishing area parking lot on Samuel Gorton Ave., heading north into the salt marsh, then proceed up the brook. Turning around at West Shore Rd. and returning to the parking lot. This should be a trip that will provide some early fall colors and a glimpse of quite a few migratory birds. This trip will be the first time they will explore the Conimicut salt marsh. All are welcomed, but the trip capacity is about 20. The trip is expected to last about 2½ hours. Participants should be ingood physical condition and have previous paddling experience and also provide their own vessels and life jackets. Conimicut Village Association Meets

The Conimicut Village Association will meet Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. in the lower level of Woodbury Union Church (corner of Beach and West Shore). On the agenda will be a discussion of the Oct. 22 workshop for Community Development Block Grant funds and November elections. Community police officers will be there as well as elected officials.  Everyone is welcome; you do not need to be a member to attend. Light refreshments will be available.

Three Women Artists

Andrea Beall, Janice Sheehan Hodge and J.Marie Hansen invite the public to “Experience Autumn Through Art” Columbus Day weekend Oct. 11, 5-9 p.m. and Oct. 12, 2-6 p.m. The exhibit will be held in the historic village of Chepachet at the Glocester Heritage Society building, 1181 Putnam Pike (Rte. 44). Part of the proceeds will be donated to Glocester Heritage Society.

St. Rita’s Autumn Bazaar

St. Rita’s Women’s Club is having its annual Autumn Bazaar to be held at the church at 722 Oakland Beach Ave. Saturday, Oct. 12 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. There will be vendors, a penny social, a flea market (weather permitting), raffles, plus lunch will be available.

Yard Sale

Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at Atwells Ave./Dean St. in Providence is having a yard sale Columbus Day weekend, Oct. 12-14, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Rental spaces is available $15 per day, $30 for three days. For more information call Donna at 952-5511. Donations are also needed.

Chopstick Auction

Volunteers of Warwick Schools will hold its popular chopstick auction Nov. 2 at Buttonwoods Community Center. VOWS is seeking contributions of new items to auction during this fundraiser. If you would like to contribute a gift certificate or a gift that would be appropriate for a man, woman or child, contact the VOWS office at 734-3230 or drop items off at VOWS located at the Drum Rock Early Childhood Center, 575 Centerville Road, Warwick. Items should be dropped off by Oct. 18. All proceeds from this event support the work of Volunteers of Warwick Schools.

Pasta Dinner Fundraiser

Warwick National Little League is hosting a pasta dinner fundraiser in loving memory of Donald “Dutch” Dutchover Oct. 18 from 6 p.m.-12 midnight at the Knights of Columbus, 475 Sandy Lane. Dinner featuring pasta, meatballs, salad, bread and dessert will be served until 10:30. There also will be a 50/50, raffles and more. Cost is $15 for adults, $10 kids 5-12, 4 and under eat free. SAL Comedy Night

The SAL Comedy Night to be held on Oct. 18 from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. at William Shields Post #43 will feature a chicken dinner and 50/50 raffle. A $25 donation is requested. Dinner will be served at 7, show starts at 8. Tickets may be purchased at the bar, or call Mel Higgins at 714-2275.
