Shepherd of the Valley

Chili Cook-off

The Great Chili Cook-off is being sponsored by the Shepherd of the Valley United Methodist Women, 604 Seven Mile Road, Hope. For tickets, call the church office at 821-8717. Menu will feature a wide variety of chili, salad, corn bread, dessert and beverage. As an alternative, there will be American Chop Suey. The cook-off will be held Saturday, Nov. 2 from 5 to 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children 5 to 12, and under 5 free. Come and vote for your favorite chili. The winner will get an award. There will also be a silent auction. Come and enjoy.

Jewelry Making Class

Jewelry-Making Class for ages 13 and up is open at Warwick Museum of Art, 3259 Post Road. The class introduces students to basic techniques as they create necklaces, earrings, cast pendants and jewel boxes. Using metals, costume jewelry, plus found objects and materials, students will create unique, wearable art under the guidance of certified instructor Kerri Fletcher Saturdays from 1-3 p.m. Nov. 2, 9 and 16. Chopstick Auction

Volunteers of Warwick Schools will hold its popular chopstick auction Nov. 2 at Buttonwoods Community Center. VOWS is seeking contributions of new items to auction during this fundraiser. If you would like to contribute a gift certificate or a gift that would be appropriate for a man, woman or child, contact the VOWS office at 734-3230 or drop items off at VOWS located at the Drum Rock Early Childhood Center, 575 Centerville Road, Warwick. Ocean State Toastmasters

Ocean State Toastmasters will hold its next meeting Nov. 5 from 7-9 p.m. at Warwick City Hall, 3275 Post Road. Ocean State Toastmasters holds its regular meetings on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. The club is one of 13,500 in Toastmasters International, a nonprofit, educational organization devoted to the development of public speaking and leadership skills.
