Warwick Historical Society

The Warwick Historical Society meets weekly at the John Waterman Arnold House on Roger Williams Circle Wednesdays from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and every second Saturday of the month at 11 a.m.-2 p.m. All are welcome and urged to become a member and volunteer. The Here Again Band Show Nov. 16, starts at 8:30. Kitchen opens at 6:30, $5 cover.

Bill Burke Variety Show

Trudeau Memorial Center welcomes back Bill Burke in The Variety Show Nov. 13 at 1:15 p.m. in the Patterson Building cafeteria. For over 20 years, Bill has been singing and acting professionally throughout Rhode Island and Massachusetts. He provides exciting entertainment for al audiences and all occasions.

Thanksgiving Food Drive

The Knights of Columbus Council #1738 presents their annual Thanksgiving food drive. Their goal is 300 pounds of food by Nov. 15. Bring non-perishable food items (canned goods, bagged foods, etc.) to 1047 Park Ave., Cranston. Call 944-9700 for more information.

Daughters of Isabella

St. Benedict #423, Daughters of Isabella will be holding a money bingo at St. William Church Parish Hall (due to renovations), 200 Pettaconsett Ave., Warwick, off Post Road, Nov. 16 at 12:30 p.m. $10 includes bingo package plus coffee and dessert (specials excluded). Jewelry Making Class

Jewelry-Making Class for ages 13 and up is open at Warwick Museum of Art, 3259 Post Road, Nov. 16 from 1-3 p.m. The class introduces students to basic techniques as they create necklaces, earrings, cast pendants and jewel boxes. Using metals, costume jewelry, plus found objects and materials, students will create unique, wearable art under the guidance of certified instructor Kerri Fletcher. Holiday Cards

& Gift Tags Workshops

Ages 15+ will get into the spirit of the holidays by designing personalized greeting cards and artful gift tags at these two-hour workshops Nov. 16 at Warwick Museum of Art, 3259 Post Road. Warwick artist Patty Martucci leads these creative and free-spirited workshops from 10 a.m.-12 noon. $15 per workshop includes materials; early registration is encouraged by phone (using MasterCard or Visa) or by stopping by during gallery hours. Turkey Supper

The First Congregational Church of Warwick, 715 Oakland Beach Ave., is having their annual all you can eat turkey supper Nov. 16 from 4:30-p.m. This all you can eat dinner includes turkey with vegetables, stuffing, gravy, beverages and our delicious homemade desserts. Cost for adults is $12. Children 12 and under cost $5. Children under 5 are free. Come early, this sells out quick.

Swinging Squares

of RI Workshops

Ocean State Toastmasters

Ocean State Toastmasters will hold its next meeting Nov. 19 from 7-9 p.m. at Warwick City Hall, 3275 Post Road. Ocean State Toastmasters holds its regular meetings on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. Norwood Neighborhood

Association

A general meeting of the Norwood Neighborhood Association will be held Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. at the Norwood Boys & Girls Club, 43 Fredericks St. A PowerPoint presentation will provide an update on solving community issues and raising property values. This topic has an enormous impact on all residents and everyone should attend. Refreshments and snacks will be served. All are welcome.

Friends of the Warwick

Animal Shelter

The monthly meeting for Friends of the Warwick Animal Shelter will be held Nov. 21 at their new location, Pilgrim Senior Center, 27 Pilgrim Parkway (behind Benny’s on Warwick Avenue and near Pilgrim High School) at 6:30 p.m. They will be finalizing plans for the Christmas craft fair to be held on Dec. 7. Considering Adoption?

Adoption Options is holding a free informational session for those considering adoption and interested in hearing about available options. Licensed adoption workers will be available to provide information and answer questions. The next meeting is scheduled for Nov. 21 from 6-7 p.m. at 959 North Main Street, Providence. Adoption Options, a non-sectarian, non-profit, comprehensive adoption program of Jewish Family Service works with prospective adoptive parents, birth parents and people who have been adopted. The agency is licensed in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, with offices in Attleboro and Providence. The agency’s work with all members of the adoption triad is focused on helping individuals to understand their options and make the most informed choices for their future. 3 Card Mel

William Shields Post #43, 662 West Shore Road, will hold 3 Card Mel (a variation of a meat raffle) every Friday starting Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m. in their lounge.

Benefit Concert

There will be a concert to benefit the RI Food Bank and the Woodbury Food Pantry Nov. 23 at 7 p.m. at Woodbury Union Church, 58 Beach Ave. Entertainment provided by Bayside Beat. Donation is $5 and a canned good (children under 12 are gree). Refreshments will be served.

Nature’s Gifts Exhibit

Warwick Museum of Art, 3259 Post Road, is looking for compelling photographic images of the natural world for an exhibit called “Nature’s Gifts” that will run Nov. 23 through Dec. 21 in the main gallery. The beauty and grandeur of nature in its many forms will be showcased with framed works, notecards and prints. All photographers who live in New England are welcome to submit .jpegs for consideration, including students enrolled in undergrad or graduate art studies.     St. David's on the Hill in Cranston will hold their Annual Holidays on the Hill Bazaar on Nov. 16 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will feature Grannies Attic, Penny Social, Elsie's Tea Room, Kid's Corner, St. David's Bake Table, the Lunch Counter and varied craft vendors. Do some of your holiday shopping or pick up some homemade baked goods for the Thanksgiving holidays
