Meadowbrook Bingo

Meadowbrook Terrace, 2220 Warwick Ave., has bingo every Friday might at 6:30 p.m., featuring great prizes and a wonderful group of people. All are welcome.

Warwick Historical Society

The Warwick Historical Society meets weekly at the John Waterman Arnold House on Roger Williams Circle Wednesdays from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and every second Saturday of the month at 11 a.m.-2 p.m. All are welcome and urged to become a member and volunteer. Tri City Elks Events

Blood Drive March 11 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Blood Mobile. Pizza & beverages will be served inside the Lodge.

Running through June 9, Tri-City Elks #14 will be holding beginner line dance classes every Monday night from 7-8:30 p.m. at 1915 West Shore Road. All ages are welcomed. Cost is $6 per person. For more information call Lori at 821-4361 or the lodge at 737-9510.

Know What Medications

You Are Taking

West View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center will present the second lecture of this year, Brown Bag of Drugs: Know What Medications You Are Taking, March 11, at 239 Legris Ave., West Warwick. Learn the importance of your medications, signs and symptoms of concern, and an overview of why your medication has been prescribed for you. Additional pharmaceutical information and handouts will be provided. Speak with a registered pharmacist and have your questions answered. This is a free one-hour lecture. It will be held at 10 a.m. and repeated again at 7 p.m. Call 828-9000 for registration. Everyone is welcome.

Ladies Auxiliary Meeting

William Shields Jr. American Legion Post #43 Ladies Auxiliary will hold their monthly meeting March 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the Post Home, 662 West Shore Road. All members are requested to attend.

Conimicut Village Association

The Conimicut Village Association will hold its next monthly meeting March 11 at 7 p.m. in the lower level of Woodbury Union Church (corner of West Shore and Beach). Join your neighbors to hear from the community police officers and to hear updates on the coming CVA sponsored events. All are welcome. Refreshments will be served.

Gorton High School Luncheon

Men’s Senior Softball

Registration is now underway for men 57 and over to join the Warwick Senior Softball League. It is a recreational league whose priorities are fun, safety and friendly competition. You do not have to be a Warwick resident to join. All games (double headers) begin at 9 a.m. and are played at City Park in Warwick on Wednesday mornings. The application fee is $20. Deadline for registration is March 15. Pasta Dinner & Silent Auction

Boy Scouts of America, Troop 7 Buttonwoods is holding their 13th Annual pasta dinner and silent auction March 15 at Saints Rose and Clement Church, 111 Long Street, Warwick.  Tickets can be purchased at the door, $8 for adults, $6 for children (4-12 years) and children under 4 years old free.  Dinner starts at 6 p.m. and everyone is welcome. Silent auction items include Vera Bradley merchandise, Gamm Theater tickets, Family Night basket, PawSox gift basket, YMCA membership and many more items.

Ocean State Toastmasters Meeting

Ocean State Toastmasters will hold its next meeting March 18 from 7-9 p.m. at Warwick City Hall, 3275 Post Road. Ocean State Toastmasters holds its regular meetings on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. The club is one of 13,500 in Toastmasters International, a nonprofit, educational organization devoted to the development of public speaking and leadership skills. The organization has approximately 280,000 members in 116 countries. Ocean State Toastmasters is one of the oldest clubs in Rhode Island. Norwood Neighborhood Association

A general meeting of the Norwood Neighborhood Association will be held March 20 at 7 p.m. at the Norwood Boys & Girls Club, 43 Frederick St. The guest speaker will be Mayor Scott Avedisian, who will provide an update on local and statewide activity. Refreshments will be served. All are welcome.

Warwick Figure Skaters Registration

Warwick Figure Skaters will hold an open registration for their spring programs March 22 from 12noon to 2 p.m. at Thayer Arena, Sandy Lane, Warwick. Group lessons to begin April 10 are taught by professional instructors. More information is available on www.warwickfs.org.

Feeding Thousand of Children

On March 22 hundreds of Rhode Island community members will work to feed thousands of starving children in the developing world. Through a partnership between Christ Church and global hunger charity Feed My Starving Children (FMSC), volunteers will prepare 175,000 life-saving meals at an FMSC MobilePack event. The MobilePack will take place March 22 at Advantage Glass, 1560 Elmwood Ave., Cranston. Community members can support this MobilePack by making a donation to cover meal costs or by volunteering to package food at the event. They need to recruit 875 volunteers and raise 22 cents for each meal – $38,500 total – for this MobilePack. Adults and children (K and up) can volunteer on March 22. Blood Drive

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 449, 197 Providence St., West Warwick, will hold a blood drive sponsored by the RI Blood Center March 22 from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served. Call 828-9715 for information.

Mary’s Way of the Cross

St. Benedict’s Young Adult Choir Keepin’ the Faith will present Mary’s Way of the Cross, Stations with refelctons and music, March 23 at 7 p.m. at St. Benedict’s Church. You are invited to enter an intimate journey of faith through the sorrowful heart of Mary and surrender to God’s will, just as she did.

The Big Skate

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ocean State announced their annual “Big Skate” March 29 from 2-4 p.m. featuring free ice skating, crafts and refreshments. Representatives from the URI hockey team will also be on hand to skate with the kids at the Boss Ice Arena on the URI Kingston Campus. All attendees are encouraged to bring their own skates, as rentals may be limited. Participation in the Big Skate is free; however, an RSVP before March 15 is required. Benefit Concert & Dinner

The Mustard Seed Farm will be hosting a benefit concert and dinner beginning at 6 p.m. on March 29 at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet, 60 Rhodes Place, Cranston, sponsored by Cat Country to help support  our equine-assisted therapy program. The evening features blues legend, James Montgomery, Dynamic Sounds Unlimited, dinner/appetizer, silent auction, raffles and door prize. The Mustard Seed Farm will be operating a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in East Greenwich that is dedicated to providing equine-assisted therapy for veterans, families and developmentally-challenged children. One of the programs called The Seeds of Courage Program is designed specifically for providing equine-assisted therapy and activities for veterans and emergency responders to support them in personal and professional development. Their programs are designed to challenge, strengthen and enlighten. For tickets call 465-3511. $55 per person, $100 VIP and $25 children 12 and under.

Old England/New England Concert

Warwick Symphony Orchestra and West Bay Chorale will hold a concert March 29 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Kevin’s Church, 333 Sandy Lane, and March 30 at 3 p.m. at CCRI Knight Campus-Hackett Theater, 400 East Ave. Join music directors Catherine Gagnon and Amanda Santo in a celebration of music from Old England to New England – selections by British and American composers. Trivia Night

There will be a Trivia Night March 31 at 7 p.m. at Bella’s Restaurant, located at 1152 Main St, Coventry. Come and test your knowledge of Rhode Island history and have a great time doing it. The Western RI Civic Historical Society (Paine House) is hosting a trivia night where teams will compete in all four rounds of questions all relating to local history. No cost to participate. Clothing Collection Drive

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ocean State is holding a collection drive for gently used clothing and small household items. Donations help to raise funds to support mentoring programs for boys and girls throughout the state. They offer convenient free home pick-up of donations and provide a tax receipt.
