Warwick Historical Society

The Warwick Historical Society meets weekly at the John Waterman Arnold House on Roger Williams Circle Wednesdays from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and every second Saturday of the month at 11 a.m.-2 p.m. All are welcome and urged to become member and volunteer. Tri City Elks Events

Ladies Auxiliary Meeting

William Shields Jr. American Legion Post #43 Ladies Auxiliary will hold their monthly meeting April 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the Post Home, 662 West Shore Road. Remember, all members are requested to attend as this is the annual visitation of the department officers.

Conimicut Village Association

The Conimicut Village Association will meet April 8 at 7 p.m. at the William Shields American Legion Post, 662 West Shore Road.  Topics include the Spring Fling, village yard sale and Easter egg hunt. Community Police will report.  Everyone is welcome.

Ladies Golf League

Harbor Lights Country Club is sponsoring a Tuesday morning league for ladies in a non-competitive style. They will have a signup day April 8 from 2-3:30 p.m. at the Buttonwoods Center on West Shore Road. Opening day is the first Tuesday in May and ends Sept 23 with a fun day and banquet. Understanding and Managing

Congestive Heart Failure

West View Nursing and Rehabilitation is presenting their third lecture of the year, Understanding and Managing Congestive Heart Failure, April 8. This free one-hour lecture is being held at 10 a.m. and repeated again at 7 that evening. They will provide a complete understanding of congestive heart failure, how to help manage the disease, and knowledge of the signs and symptoms to understand. Lincoln Park Neighborhood Association

A general meeting of the Lincoln Park Neighborhood Association will be held on April 8 at 6:30 p.m. at Belize Toyota on Post Rd., Warwick. The meeting will be held in the 2nd floor conference room. They will be providing information on the newly formed neighborhood watch and upcoming events. All are welcome to attend.

Gorton High School Luncheon

The Gorton High School monthly luncheon will be held on April 9 at Chianti’s, 195 Old Forge Road, Warwick, at 11:30 a.m. Cost is $15. All Gorton High School classmates from 1941-1955 are welcome. East Greenwich Leisure Learning

Do you enjoy learning something new in a fun and friendly environment? East Greenwich Leisure Learning, membership organization now in its 36th year, welcomes interested adults, regardless of residency, to join them by registering for their upcoming six-week series of 12 lectures and programs The dates for the spring series are April 10, 24 and May 1, 8 and15, with morning and afternoon presentation each day. Topics of lectures vary from the practical to the historical, especially Rhode Island history, and anything in between Programs are held at St Luke’s Parish House on the corner of Peirce and Church Sts. The registration fee for the series is $15, and members sign up for the entire series. Pre-registration is required. Those interested may contact the registrar at 828-0978.

Pink Out the Runway

Pink Out the Runway will be held April 11 at Warwick Veterans Memorial High School. Doors open at 5:15 p.m., show begins at 6, featuring a fashion show, vendors, a raffle and a mini bake sale. Tickets are $5, sold at the door or email briannacarbary@yahoo.com. Sponsored by Mens Wearhouse & Tux and David’s Bridal. This is the senior project of Brianna Carbary, and all proceeds will be donated to the Rhode Island Chapter of Pink Heals.

Spring Rummage Sale

The First Baptist Church of East Greenwich will have its Spring Rummage Sale April 11 from 4-8 p.m. and

again April 12,  from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. They have the very best items for sale from clothes for all ages and sizes to household items, small appliances, shoes, bags, children’s clothes and toys and so many books on many topics and fiction. You do not want to miss this opportunity to refresh your spring wardrobe and even buy gifts. The church is located one block up from Main Street, easy to find on Pierce Street.

Easter Egg Hunt

Riverview Improvement Association and the Conimicut Village Association will host an Easter egg hunt April 12 at 11 a.m. sharp. The Easter Bunny will be there with prizes and goody bags. The hunt is open to all children ages 10 and under.

Spring Fling

The Conimicut Village Association Spring Fling is scheduled for April 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Tri-City Elks Lodge 1915 West Shore Road The event features a buffet dinner, live music, door prizes, raffle baskets and silent auctions. Tickets are $22 and can be purchased online at www.conimicut.org or by calling 524-8404. This sellout annual fundraiser helps pay for the flowers and flags that adorn Conimicut Village center every summer. No tickets will be sold at the door.

Annual Orchid Plant Auction

The annual Ocean State Orchid Society orchid plant auction will be held April 12 at 10 a.m. at the North Kingstown Community Center, 30 Beach St., Wickford. Member sign-up starts at 9 a.m., orchid plant preview from 10-10:30,m auction is at 10:30. Orchid plants offered for auction are mature blooming or near blooming size plants. Colon Cancer Alliance

The Voices of RI chapter of the Colon Cancer Alliance will hold their next monthly meeting at 10 a.m. April 12 in the small meeting room of the Warwick Public Library, 600 Sandy Lane, Warwick. Easter Ham Raffle

Sgt. David Langevin’s Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 449 will hold an Easter ham raffle April 12 at the post home, 197 Providence St., West Warwick. Raffle will begin at 7 p.m. Many prizes of Easter hams, Easter baskets, food products, household goods, gift certificates and more will be raffled. Admission is free and refreshments will be served. Used Book Sale

Used and almost new books will be for sale at Asbury United Methodist Church, 143 Ann Mary Brown Dr., Warwick, April 12. The sale will be from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.  All proceeds will benefit a campership fund for youth to attend Camp Aldersgate, the United Methodist Church camp in Glocester.

Benefit Concert

The 12th Annual R.I. Community Food Bank benefit concert will be held Palm Sunday, April 13, at 6:30 p.m. at Lakewood Baptist Church, 255 Atlantic Ave., Warwick. Admission is at least one non-perishable food item. A free-will offering for the food bank will also be taken (check payable to RI Community Food Bank).

New England Steel Guitar

New England Steel Guitar Country will be April 13 at Post 15, Main St., East Greenwich from 1-5 p.m. Al Carter and The Nashville Boys will perform. Kitchen is open.

New Art Classes for Ages 17 and Up

Jumpstart spring by adding colorful creativity to your life with art classes on Tuesday and Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Warwick Museum of Art, 3259 Post Road. Gaspee Seniors

Boys & Girls Blub Meeting

A general meeting will be held April 15 at 7 p.m. at the Norwood Boys & Girls Club, 43 Frederick St. There will be a special presentation by Minimum Housing representatives covering typical compliance issues and homeowner and/or neighbor-problem resolutions. There will also be a community police crime update report. Refreshments will be served. All are welcome.

Ocean State Toastmasters Meeting

Ocean State Toastmasters will hold its next meeting April 15 from 7-9 p.m. at Warwick City Hall, 3275 Post Road. Ocean State Toastmasters holds its regular meetings on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. The club is one of 13,500 in Toastmasters International, a nonprofit, educational organization devoted to the development of public speaking and leadership skills. Meet the State Candidates

The Warwick AARP Community Group is hosting an important event April 17 from 5-7 p.m. at the Buttonwoods Community Center. Here is your opportunity to personally meet all the statewide candidates and learn how they plan to address the issues facing Baby Boomers and beyond. This event is free and open to the public of all ages. It will be your chance to ask the question of the candidates.
