Meadowbrook Bingo

Warwick Historical Society

The Warwick Historical Society meets weekly at the John Waterman Arnold House on Roger Williams Circle Wednesdays from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and every second Saturday of the month at 11 a.m.-2 p.m. All are welcome and urged to become member and volunteer. Gaspee Days Fundraiser

The Gaspee Days Committee is holding a fundraiser May 2 at the William Shields Post #43, West Shore Road, at 6 p.m. A chicken dinner with real mashed potatoes will be served. There will be music and a raffle. Price is $25 per person. Call 781-01774 for tickets. Deadline is April 30.

East Greenwich Leisure Learning

Do you enjoy learning something new in a fun and friendly environment? East Greenwich Leisure Learning, membership organization now in its 36th year, welcomes interested adults, regardless of residency, to join them by registering for their upcoming six-week series of 12 lectures and programs The dates for the spring series are May 1, 8 and 15, with morning and afternoon presentation each day. Topics of lectures vary from the practical to the historical, especially Rhode Island history, and anything in between Programs are held at St. Luke’s Parish House on the corner of Peirce and Church Sts. The registration fee for the series is $15, and members sign up for the entire series. Pre-registration is required. Those interested may contact the registrar at 828-0978.

New Art Classes for Ages 17 and Up

Jumpstart spring by adding colorful creativity to your life with art classes on Tuesday and Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Warwick Museum of Art, 3259 Post Road. Three-week classes are bursts of creativity that fit busy schedules. Four new classes debut this spring: Beginning Ceramics through May 1 $250 (includes all materials); Exploring Pastels May 6-22 $125 (a materials list will be emailed); Creative Drawing May 27-July 12 $125 (a materials list will be emailed); Creating Art from the Masters June 17-July 3 $125 (a materials list will be emailed). Art classes are terrific Mom and Dad’s Day gifts (gift certificates available in any amount) and phone registration is easy with MasterCard or Visa. Yard Sale

Meadowbrook Terrace, 2220 Warwick Ave., is holding an indoors/outdoors yard sale May 3, featuring household goods, jewelry, clothing, books and great values. Coffee and donuts in the morning, hot dogs, hamburgers, sausage and peppers for lunch.

Dogpatch Fundraising Event

Dogpatch Grooming Salon will be hosting a fundraising event May 3 (rain or shine) from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m.  Dogpatch is located in historic Apponaug at 99 Brownlee Blvd. Featuring more than 15 vendors tables, raffles, refreshments and much, much more. There will also be a clothing sale, which benefits the American Diabetes Association. One hundred percent of all the proceeds raised goes to charity. Come out and support them by stopping at vendor tables or trying your luck in the raffle, or simply stop by with an item needed by one of the local animal shelters. Bingo

St. Kevin’s Church Hall, 333 Sandy Lane, is holding bingo May 3, starting with a $75 special; last special is $100. Doors open at 5 p.m., bingo starts ay 6. There will be no bingo in June and July.

Daughters of Isabella

The Saint Benedict Circle #423, Daughters of Isabella will hold their monthly business meeting May 5 at 6:30 p.m. in the parish library. All members are welcome. Refreshments will be served.

Spring Craft Fair

Just in time for Mother’s Day, Friends of the Warwick Animal Shelter is hosting the 3rd Annual Crafting for Critters Spring Craft Fair and Bake Sale May 10 at the Buttonwoods Community Center, 3027 West Shore Road, Warwick, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. A wide variety of vendors will be gathered under one roof selling their wares including stained glass, Silpada jewelry, handmade candles, chocolates, crafts for animal lovers, baby gifts, original paintings, handmade jewelry, Wildtree herbs, Pampered Chef housewares, baked goods, all natural dog treats, clothing, books and more. Book & Bake Sale

Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 1817 Warwick Ave., is having a book and bake sale May 10 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. and May 11 from 11 a.m.- 12 noon. Thousand of gently used hardcovers, paperbacks, fiction, non-fiction, children’s books, videos, CDs and puzzles. Fresh homemade baked goods available for your Mother’s Day celebrations.

Gorton Luncheon

The Gorton High School monthly luncheon will be held May 14 at Timmy’s Waterfront Restaurant, One Bay Avenue, Oakland Beach, at 11:30 a.m. Cost is $15. All Gorton High School classmates from 1941-1955 are welcome. Norwood General Meeting

A general meeting will be held May 15 at 7 p.m. at the Norwood Boys & Girls Club, 43 Frederick St. The agenda will include a community police report followed by a presentation by Master Gardener Barbara Morgan, who will present an interesting presentation on all facets of planting to harvesting and answer any questions related to your gardening questions. There will also be a flower and plant swap at the end of the meeting.  For more details, email norwoodna@verizon.net. All are welcome.

Community Tag Sale

The Conimicut Village Association will host its annual Spring Village-Wide Yard Sale May 17 from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. All Conimicut residents/businesses are welcome to participate at no cost by calling 524-8404 or by emailing ginbarham1@aol.com with the address where you will set up. CVA will advertise statewide. Maps showing all participating homes will be available for download at www.conimicut.org and on Craigslist after May 14 and at many participating homes the day of the event. There is no cost to participate.

Narragansett Spring

Scramble For SIDS

The Narragansett Spring Scramble For SIDS will take place May 23 with an 8 a.m. start at North Kingstown Public Golf Course. Soft spikes only; $125 per player included continental breakfast at 7:30 a.m., group & individual prizes, awards ceremony, raffles, longest drive, closest to the pin, putting contest, cart, streak fry with a special presentation to honor Eagle. Mixed groups welcome. Raffle with a chance to win a golf vacation in Catskills worth $500. Win two free tickets that include two nights lodging, meals and golf. Divorce Group

The divorce group is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. The sessions are led by people who understand what you are going through and want to help. Natick Family & Friend Gathering

A “Natick Family and Friends Gathering” will be held May 31 at the West Valley Inn, 4 Blossom Street, West Warwick. An evening of music, dancing and fun follows the 6 p.m. start of an enjoyable evening that includes a full course dinner prepared by the  Inn. Music will be provided by The Reggie Centracchio Quintet.
