Meadowbrook Bingo

Meadowbrook Terrace, 2220 Warwick Ave., has bingo every Friday night at 6:30 p.m., featuring great prizes and a wonderful group of people. All are welcome.

Warwick Historical Society

The Warwick Historical Society meets weekly at the John Waterman Arnold House on Roger Williams Circle Wednesdays from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and every second Saturday of the month at 11 a.m.-2 p.m. All are welcome and urged to become member and volunteer. Tri-City Elks

Blood Drive July 12 at 9 a.m. in the lower level of the building. Did you know that only three percent of eligible individuals donate blood? Country line dancing with Tami has ended for the summer and will resume again on Monday, Sept. 18.

Tiki Bar Party July 25 at 6 p.m. Quesadillas, nachos, chili, fish and other tacos. Many lodge specials as well. Tickets are $15 per person and can be purchased in the lounge Monday to Thursday after 3 p.m. and Friday to Sunday after noon. Come join the fun.

Summer Art Camp

Ages 6-12 will have unique ways to explore their creativity this summer at Warwick Museum of Art, 3259 Post Road. New art sessions include comic books, oil pastels, wearable art, and art & poetry in nine lines. Plus, favorite sessions like acrylic painting, ceramics, drawing and jewelry making will be offered again. Conimicut Village Association

The Conimicut Village Association will hold its monthly meeting July 8 at 7 p.m. at the William Shields Post American Legion, 662 West Shore Road. The Community Police will provide current crime information and plans for the Aug. 16 craft festival will be discussed. All Conimicut residents are welcome to attend.

Summer Night Concert Series

The Apponaug Area Improvement Association presents its 4th Annual Music for a Summer Night Concert Series on the front steps of Warwick City Hall 6:30-8 p.m. The schedule is as follows: July 10 Joe Esposito Timeless Classics; July 24 Saucy Jack Band Acoustic Rock; August 7 Bobby Justin Classic Rock ’n Roll; Aug. 21 Ten Rod Ramblers Blues & Rock. In case of rain, concerts will be held in the Friendship Hall of Warwick Central Baptist Church Hall across from City Hall.

Franny Choi

Franny Choi will bee at Mad Poets Café July 12 from 7-9 p.m. at the Warwick Museum of Art, 3259 Post Road. Ms. The Providence-based Pushcart Prize nominee is also a spoken-word performer, playwright and teaching artist. Her first collection of poems,  Floating, Brilliant, Gone, was released by Write Bloody Publishing in March 2014. Nationally-acclaimed poet Christopher Johnson will emcee the evening and the open mic session for local poets is 7-8 (signup at 6:30). Tickets are $4 and include light refreshments and there’s free parking behind WMOA. N.E. Steel Guitar

New England Steel Guitar Country will be held July 13 at Post 15, Main St., East Greenwich. The band will be The Rhode Island Rednecks. The kitchen will be open.

Hope For Addison

The Hope For Addison Poker Run will be held July 13. Registration is 8 a.m. at Eddie’s 529 Club, 529 Warwick Ave., kickstands up at 10 a.m. Raffles and a BBQ will be held at Eddie’s at the end of the run. Scholarship Picnic

William Shields Post 662 is holding its annual scholarship picnic and BOLO raffle July 13 from 12-5 p.m. There will be hamburgers, hot dogs, French fries, tossed salad, baked beans, deviled eggs, watermelon, fruit punch and much more. Children 4 and under eat free, 5-10 $4 and all others $7.50. All proceeds go to the children’s scholarship programs.

Ocean State Toastmasters

Ocean State Toastmasters will hold its next meeting July 15 from 7-9 p.m. at Warwick City Hall, 3275 Post Road. Ocean State Toastmasters holds its regular meetings on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. The club is one of some 13,500 in Toastmasters International, a nonprofit, educational organization devoted to the development of public speaking and leadership skills. The organization has approximately 280,000 members in 116 countries. Ocean State Toastmasters is one of the oldest clubs in Rhode Island. Old-Fashioned Grange Picnic

Celebrate summer with an old-fashioned grange picnic hosted by the Rhode Island and Connecticut State granges. The event will be held July 19 starting at 10 a.m. There will be lunch at 12 noon. The event will be held at the North Stonington Community Grange & Fairgrounds at 21 Wyassup Road, North Stonington, Conn. Hot dogs and hamburgers will be provided. Rhode Island to bring snacks and desserts; Connecticut to bring sides and salads. There will be old-fashioned picnic games, entertainment and more. Golf Tournament

Harmony Lodge #9, F.&A.M., Doric Masonic Center is hosting their 24th annual golf tournament July 19 at the Crystal Lake Golf Club at 100 Bronco Highway, Mapleville, R.I. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ocean State (BBBSOS). 7:30 a.m. registration and shotgun start at 8 a.m. sharp in scramble format includes, 18 holes of golf, cart, raffles, a steak luncheon at 1 p.m. and prizes. The cost per golfer is $125. Craft Vendors Wanted

The Conimicut Village Association is seeking vendors for their annual craft fair to be held at Conimicut Point Park Aug. 16 from 12 noon until 5 p.m. The vendor fee is $25. Call 524-8404 for more information and/or an application form.

Revisit Gorton High School

Former students and friends of Gorton High School are invited to visit the school and stroll the corridors once again. The school will be opened Aug. 16 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon.

Preschool Registration

The Title I Office for Warwick Public Schools announced that Preschool registration for the 2014/2015 school year has started. The preschool program is fully funded through Title I. The program will run four half days each week with a parent component every other Friday. They are offering a morning or an afternoon session to families. Parents are required to attend every other Friday for informative workshops to support family learning and kindergarten readiness. This program is free of charge and is offered to families living in the Oakland Beach, Hoxsie, Wickes and Norwood areas. Cruise Nights

Every Tuesday until September, the Greater Warwick Lions will be holding Cruising with the Oldies at Oakland Beach in Warwick from 4 p.m. to dusk. Sweet antique cars, DJ Dom playing the oldies, food vendors, raffles and prizes all with an ocean view. All proceeds benefit the Lions’ charities, Ronald McDonald House, children with cancer, Insight, children and adults in the community in need of glasses, scholarships awarded to Warwick students and JONAH. Cruise Night is weather permitting; check the Warwick Lions Cruise Night website for cancellations.

Crafters Needed

Crafters needed for the annual Heritage Day event at the Paine House Museum located at 7 Station St., Coventry, on September 27. The price per table is $25. Tables are not available, so you will have to supply your own. There is limited space this year, so if you’re interested contact Sandy at 821-2444.

St. Benedict’s Church

100th Anniversary Gala

On Sept. 27 St. Benedict Church, 135 Beach Avenue, will be having their 100th anniversary gala. It will begin with 4 p.m. Mass and be followed by a spectacular celebration in the newly refurbished and handicapped accessible Parish Center. The church is looking for former priests, deacons, principals, nuns, teachers, students, choir members and former and present parishioners. They would like your pictures and past history to make this a memorable and uplifting event not only for the parish but also the faith community.
