Friends of the Warwick Animal Shelter

The monthly meeting for Friends of the Warwick Animal Shelter will be held on Thursday, Sept. 18 at the Pilgrim Senior Center, 27 Pilgrim Parkway (behind Benny’s on Warwick Avenue and near Pilgrim High School) at 6:30 p.m. We will be discussing upcoming fundraisers and the dog walk scheduled for Oct. 4. Harvest Festival

Warwick Neck Elementary School is having a harvest festival Sept. 20 from 1-4 p.m. in the schoolyard, featuring games, food, plants, petting zoo, bouncy house and much more, including a surprise activity with the principal. Giant Flea Market

There will be a giant flea market and snack bar Sept 20 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. (rain or shone) at Lakewood Baptist Church, 255 Atlantic Ave. (off Warwick Ave.).

Breakfast Fundraiser

Breakfast Fundraiser this Saturday, Sept. 20 from 7:30-10 a.m. at Dave’s Bar and Grill, 2339 Post Road, Warwick, to benefit the Ocean State Center for Independent Living (OSCIL). Enjoy the delicious “All You Can Eat Breakfast and Omelet Bar.” Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance at OSCIL, 1944 Warwick Ave. Tickets are $8. Warwick Health & Safety Fair

Join us on Sept. 20 at the Balise Chevrolet auto dealership for free FBI quality digital fingerprint and photographs from one of the top child safety programs in the country. The Keeping Kids Safe Project will take a child’s fingerprints and send them home with parents. Parents can use the record to turn directly over to authorities anywhere in the world to instantly aid in an investigation. There will also be community organizations present to provide safety information for families. The child safety fair will take place on Saturday, Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Balise Chevrolet is located at 1338 Post Road in Warwick. Giant Flea Market

The Lakewood Baptist Church will host a Giant Flea Market & Snack Bar on Saturday, Sept. 20 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine. The church is located at 255 Atlantic Ave., off Warwick Ave., in Warwick.

Daughters of Isabella Fall Bingo

St. Benedict Circle #423 Daughters of Isabella is holding their annual Fall Cash Bingo fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 12:30 p.m. in St. Benedict Parish Hall, on Transit St., Warwick. The parish hall is newly renovated and handicap accessible. Admission is $10 and includes Bingo package plus dessert and coffee.

St. Paul Yard Sale

St. Paul Parish on Broad Street in Cranston is hosting a yard sale on Saturday, Sept. 20, with a rain date of Saturday, Sept. 27. Vendors are needed. Contact 474-4382 to reserve space for a $25 donation made payable to St. Paul School. Clean out basements, garages, closets and attics, and set up tables with treasures between 6:30 and 7:15 a.m. on the day of the sale. The sale runs from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Information Packet Dropoff

St. Gregory the Great Parish will be having an information packet dropoff Sept. 29 as part of evangelization efforts to reach out to the parish community. The packet includes a new parish activity directory, a letter from the pastor, a flyer on Pope Francis, a flyer on the importance of going to church and a magnet with the Mass schedule. Volunteers will drop off the packet at doors on predetermined streets. There will be no talking or conversations necessary. The Pink vehicles will be at the Pink Golf Party Sept. 20 with a 11 a.m. tee time at Wampanoag Golf Course, 168 Old Providence Road, Swansea, Mass.

Magic of Music Fundraiser

Ethan Place Assisted Living is holding its Magic of Music Fundraiser Sept. 21 from 2-4 p.m. Enjoy food and music from the 50s ’til now. 100 Years of Music

St. Benedict’s Church will presents 100 Years of Music on Sunday, Sept. 21 at 2 p.m. Join our choir director, Mr. Paul Gormly, and Lori Earnshaw as they present a selection of music from the past, present and future. Mr. Gormly will be joined by Keepin the Faith, the Adult Choir and The Daughters of Isabella presenting selections from “Sister Act.” Following the music presentation, refreshments will be served in the Parish Centre. Swinging Squares Workshops

Swinging Squares of RI Square Dance Workshops will be held Monday nights Sept. 22 and 29 (open classes for new dancers until Oct. 6, then the class will be closed to incoming new dancers until the following year.), 7-9:30 p.m. at East Smithfield Neighborhood Center, 7 Esmond St., Smithfield. Voices of RI Meeting

St. Kevin School is holding its 2014 golf tournament at Richmond Country Club Sept. 27. Golf package is $100 per person, as is gold sponsor advertising. Crafters Needed

Crafters needed for the annual Heritage Day event at the Paine House Museum located at 7 Station St., Coventry, on Sept. 27. The price per table is $25. Women of Achievement Awards

Join YWCA Rhode Island at the 10th Annual Women of Achievement Awards Sept. 30 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Kirkbrae Country Club, Lincoln. Deb Ruggiero, local radio personality for Amazing Women, is the event emcee. Luncheon tickets are $50 or reserve a table of 10 for $500. Event underwriting opportunities are available and support YWCA programming. Women of Achievement Awards are recognized nationally. They bring attention to the accomplishments of women in industry, culture and public service in local communities. The awards are based on achievements promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity. Selection criteria focuses on exceptional skills, leadership and mentoring; breaking new ground or old barriers; and being agents of positive change and inspiring others. Car Wash

Saint Kevin’s School’s 8th grade class will be holding a fundraising car wash Oct. 4 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Knights of cClumbus parking lot located at 475 Sandy Lane. Proceeds from this event will go to helping the class defray the cost of their end of year trip. Cars will be $5 and large trucks and vans will be $7. Please help make this a successful event for the kids. The rain date for this event is Oct. 5 from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. 

Autumn Bazaar

Halloween Party

Conimicut Village Hunger Walk

The 2014 West Bay CROP Hunger Walk will be held at 9 a.m. Oct. 18 in Conimicut Village. Hundreds of participants and teams from around the state will walk a three-mile course through the village and down around the Point to raise money for and awareness of those who go hungry in the U.S. and around the world. Money raised will benefit both local and world organizations to end hunger. To create a walking team, sign up as an individual walker or sponsor walkers/teams, visit hunger.cwsglobal.org/warwickri.
