Tri-City Elks

Country line dancing every Monday from 7-8:30 p.m. Cost is $6 per person. Come and join the fun. Proceeds to benefit Elks charities.

Bingo for Jan. 30 is cancelled due to inclement weather

Greenwich Bay Women’s Club

Usher in a new year by joining the Greenwich Bay Women’s Club at one of their meetings this year. They meet the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at Atria Harborhill, 159 Division St. on the Warwick/East Greenwich line) to work together to make a difference in local communities. There are no age or residency requirements to join and meetings are open. Soccer Club Fundraiser

The Warwick Fire Fighters Soccer Club is raising money to help build a concession stand and make improvements to new fields off Lake Shore Dr. in Warwick. WFFSC was formed in 1984 and is a non-profit, all-volunteer town club that provides an opportunity for all children to participate in organized soccer and promotes the values of good sportsmanship and fair play. The event will take place Jan. 29 from 5-8 p.m. at Moe’s Southwest Grill, 300 Quaker Lane, Warwick.

3 Card Mel

William Shields #43, 662 West Shore Road, will have 3 Card Mel (a variation of the winter meat raffle) every Friday night at 7 p.m. There will be no raffle on Jan. 23, raffle resumes on Jan. 30. Everyone is welcome.

Free Community Lunch

There will be a free community lunch & food pantry Jan. 31 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 111 West Shore Road, Warwick. Everyone is welcome.

Gaspee Seniors

On Feb. 3 at 12:15 p.m. the Gaspee Seniors will have a meeting at the Buttonwoods Community Center, West Shore Road, Warwick. They will be celebrating healthy heart month. All are welcome. Call Mary Nolan at 941-5507.

Elder Care Forum

Call For Entries

The anti-bullying organization CABINS has issued a call for digital entries from students in Rhode Island middle and high schools, supporting the theme “Random Acts of Kindness.” Winning entries will be awarded cash prizes and invitations to the group’s annual gala on March 29 at Kirkbrae Country Club, Lincoln. Entries should be sent to CABINS electronically by Feb. 6 at entry@CABINSRI.org. Students should include their names, schools and contact information along with their entries. Middle school entries should include a photograph with a quote or caption regarding acts of kindness, using Instagram, done in “meme” style. High school entries should include a 15-second video, using Instagram, supporting the contest’s theme. Videos can include a poem, song or the depiction of a random act of kindness. All entries must include original content. Plagiarism is grounds for disqualification. Entries must be accompanied by a signed release from all persons depicted in photographs or videos, allowing CABINS to use those images on its website and social media and to be displayed at future events including the annual spring gala. Students are encouraged to use the hashtag, #CABINSRI, when posting their entries through social media to help spread the theme of kindness. For inspiration for their entries, students are encouraged to visit www.CABINSRI.org, choose the “Programs” drop-down menu, and use the “Random Acts of Kindness” link. CABINS will hold its annual spring gala March 29 from 12:30-4:30 p.m. at Kirkbrae Country Club. The event features food, dancing and a silent auction for gift certificates, gift baskets, sports memorabilia and other items. Tickets are $50 and available via credit card or PayPal at www.cabinsri.org. The gala raises funds to support anti-bullying programs in Rhode Island middle and high schools.

Steak Fry

Saints Rose and Clement Parish will be hosting a steak fry Feb. 7 in the church hall, 111 Long St. Cocktails will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. Dinner will be steak or chicken, baked potatoes, salad, string beans and bread, with ice cream sundaes for dessert. Bingo

Bingo will be held Feb. 7 at St. Kevin’s Hall, 333 Sandy Lane. Doors open at 5 p.m., bingo starts at 6 with a $100 special. The last special will be $100.

Warwick Women’s Club

The GFWC Warwick Women’s Club holds monthly meetings on the second Tuesday of the month. The next meeting will be February 10 at the Elizabeth Buffum Chace Center, 821 West Shore Road in Warwick. The doors will be open at 6:30 p.m. to enjoy refreshments and the meeting will begin at 7 p.m.. The WWC is open to all women interested in becoming involved in community betterment. Gorton High School Luncheon

The Gorton High School monthly luncheon will be held Feb. 11 at Sam’s Inn, 2227 West Shore Road, Warwick, at 12 noon (note time change). Cost is $15. All Gorton High School classmates from 1941-1955, spouses and friends are welcome. Taize Prayer Service

All are invited to join the World Day of Prayer for the Sick, as we seek intercessions of Our Lady of Lourdes in a Taize Prayer Service (a blending of icons, candles, scripture, song and silence) Feb. 11 at Saints Rose and Clement Parish, 111 Long St., at 7 p.m.

Spaghetti Supper

The First Congregational Church of Warwick, 715 Oakland Beach Ave., is having an all you can eat spaghetti supper Feb. 14 from 4:30-7 p.m. Menu includes salad, spaghetti and meatballs, sausage, rolls, beverages and homemade desserts. Cost for adults is $9, children 6-12 is $4. Children 5 and under are free.

Hi-Lo-Jack Tournament

The Youth Department of the Rhode Island State Grange will be holding a High-Low Jack tournament Feb. 14 at 1 p.m. at Kickemuit Grange Hall, 92 Vernon St., Warren, prior to the meeting of Newport County Pomona. All Grange members and non-members are eligible to compete in this tournament. Teams must consist of two players (at least one member of the team must be a Grange member). All teams must be present by 1 p.m. for the start of the contest. February Art Camp

A new schedule of art sessions for February vacation was announced by Warwick Museum of Art, 3259 Post Road. Returning favorites include drawing, painting, mixed media, sculpture, ceramics and more. The camp runs Feb. 16-20 with morning and afternoon sessions for kids ages 6-12. Cost per three-hour session is $35 and there is a discount if you sign up for the whole week. Concert

A concert will be held Feb. 22 at Roger Williams Park Botanical Center from 3-5 p.m. featuring The Becky Chace Band. Listen and dance to folk, rock and blues.

Men’s Senior Softball

Registration is now underway for men 57 and older to join the Warwick Senior Softball League. It is a recreational league whose priorities are fun, safety and friendly competition. You do not have to be a Warwick resident to join. All games (double headers) begin at 9 a.m. and are played at Buttonwoods City Park in Warwick on Wednesday mornings. The fee is $20. Bingo Caller Needed

The Pilgrim Senior Center is looking for a volunteer bingo caller on Mondays and Thursdays from 1-3 p.m. Contact Holly Weber at 468-4074 if you are interested. Also, every Wednesday afternoon play poker, chess or bridge at the center. New members are always welcome, even if you are just learning how to play. Art Classes for Teens

Kick start 2015 by adding colorful creativity to your life with art classes for teens on Tuesday nights from 6-8 p.m. at the Warwick Museum of Art, 3259 Post Road. Classes run for three-week intervals and there is a new medium every month like portraits in pencil, mixed media, ceramics, printmaking and more. Class sizes are small, so a lot of one-on-one instruction is guaranteed. Art Supplies Needed

to Help People with Mental Illness

The Kent Center would greatly appreciate donations of used or new art supplies to stock art classes for youths, teens and adults who struggle with mental illness. Creating art reduces stress, anxiety, fears and depression in people with mental illness and raises a person’s quality of life. The Center, which helps 4,000 Rhode Islanders with mental illness each year, is in constant need of art supply donations such as crayons, markers, watercolors, acrylic paint, construction paper, pipe cleaners, fabric, buttons, coloring books, etc. Contact Sarah Channing at 738-1338 x335 for more information, or drop off tax-deductible donations at 2756 Post Road, Warwick.
