Buttonwoods Fish & Chips: Homemade food to comfort you this fall

Posted

It's another Friday morning, and the bacon is already frying and the pancakes are already flipping at Buttonwoods Fish & Chips in Warwick. The warmth of the sun is filtering through the windows and the aroma of fresh coffee fills the air at this cozy eatery on Buttonwoods Avenue. In the center of the room, a group of five friends gather as they always do after their workout at a local gym, to share a cup of coffee and to swap stories of their busy lives. They come to Buttonwoods Fish & Chips because it feels like home here, a place where friends and family can linger over a platter of homefries, or a bowl of oatmeal, or simply, a cup of coffee on a Friday morning.

Friends JoAnn, Ellen, Grace, Judy and Jackie love their morning cup of freshly brewed coffee at Buttonwoods Fish & Chips, but their whole faces light up at mention of the dinner menu served here every Friday night. Their voices ring out, talking over each other as they list their favorites: "There is NOTHING that is not good here . . ."; "Never had a bad meal here . . "; "My husband is Scottish and he LOVES the Shepherd's Pie!"; "The Little Necks . . . the fish is fantastic . . .the eggplant is wonderful!" On this Friday night, they would all be very pleased with the specials that owners Jackie and Tony Fiore have created: Baked Sea Scallop Casserole. Sole Francaise. Red or White Fruttie de Mare over linguine. Roasted Half Chicken Dinner. Butternut Squash Filled Ravioli and their Veal Cutlet Casserole.

Each bite is more delicious than the next. Each forkful reminding diners of the kind of homemade meal you can only find . . . well, at home.

You will always find wholesome, homemade and affordable food at Buttonwoods Fish & Chips. Many diners have been known to start their days here for a breakfast of fluffy pancakes, fruit-smothered waffles, homefries, omelettes, steamy oatmeal and homemade hash - only to return at night for dinner! (Friday nights only)

The lunch menu here at Buttonwoods is just as enticing. There are juicy hamburgers, hotdogs, traditional hot and cold sandwiches like BLTs and grilled cheese, as well as chicken, seafood, egg or tuna salads. The wieners and clam rolls are extremely popular as well. There is something for everyone here - young and old, first-times and veterans alike.
