The Community College of Rhode Island will host the 18th annual Fall Classic to support student assistance Monday, Sept. 17, at the Alpine Country Club, 251 Pippin Orchard Road, Cranston.
The day will begin with registration and lunch from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at noon in Texas scramble format. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will begin at 4:30 p.m., with dinner and awards at 5:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded to the first- and second-place teams, closest to the pin and longest drive. There also will be a hole-in-one contest and a gift for every golfer.
Thanks to sponsors, players, donors and volunteers, last year’s event raised nearly $37,000 to help defray the expenses of college for students who continue to be challenged by the difficult economy. Since the tournament began through the efforts of former CCRI administrators Joe DiMaria and Ray Ferland, nearly $350,000 has been raised to help students with scholarship assistance, book purchases and a variety of other forms of financial assistance.
Playing spots and sponsorships are still available. Visit www.ccri.edu/president for more information or to register.
