Calvin Sidney Nickerson, of Murrieta, California, passed away on October 13, 2014 following a long illness. He was the husband of Emily (Nygard) Nickerson of Branford, Connecticut, for the past 65 years.

He was a son of the late Hattie and Sidney Nickerson, he was born in Athol, Massachusetts on May 30, 1926. A graduate of Athol High School, he served in the Air Force during World War II and graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1950. After graduation, the Nickersons lived in Providence and Warwick, Rhode Island, before relocating to Long Beach, California, in 1988. Cal worked at Monowatt in Providence, Rhode Island (which later became General Electric), ITT in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, and Leviton Electric Corporate Headquarters in New York where he served as Vice President and Director of Consumer Products. He was a member of the Greenwood Community Church in Warwick, Rhode Island, and sang in the church choir from 1963 until 1988.

He is survived by a sister, Shirley Gale, of Athol, Massachusetts, a son, David Allen Nickerson (and wife Marie) of Murrieta, California, and a daughter, Nancy Nickerson Roux (and husband Joseph) of Chino Hills, California. He also leaves two grandchildren, Nicole Nickerson Cote of Johnston, Rhode Island, Adam Allen Nickerson of Providence, Rhode Island, and a great-grandson, Nicholas Cote, of Johnston, Rhode Island.

Following his 1988 retirement, he served as a consultant for Pacific Electricord of Gardena, California. He was an active volunteer at "The Colony", a retirement community in Murrieta, California. He also sang in the Colony Chorus for 18 years and was a member of the Colony Harmony Four, a barbershop quartet that entertained at civic functions, birthday parties and local concerts. He worked actively for the Rhode Island School of Design Alumni Association and the Nickerson Family Association. The Nickersons traveled extensively and shared a great love for drawing and painting.
