The Toll Gate boys’ hockey team outlasted South Kingstown at URI’s Brad Boss Arena on Friday night, winning its first game of the season, as William Fox’s overtime goal lifted the Titans to a 6-5 victory.

The Titans took a 3-1 deficit into the third period, but battled back late. They would take a 5-4 lead in the final minute of the third, their first lead of the game, before the Rebels responded to send the game to an extra period.

There, Fox buried a shot to the back of the cage at 2:08, with an assist given to Max Fields.

Fox led Toll Gate with a four-point night, adding an assist to go along with a hat trick.

Connor Sullivan dished out three assists, while Teagan Stringfellow, Sean Vittum and Kyle Palumbo each registered one goal.

Unfortunately, Toll Gate couldn’t take any points out of Saturday night’s game against Rogers/Middletown/Rocky Hill Co-op, falling 6-3 to drop to 1-2 on the season.

The Titans will look to get back to .500 on Friday when they host PCD/St. Ray’s/Wheeler Co-op at 6:30 p.m. at Thayer Arena. Toll Gate will then travel to Portsmouth Abbey on Saturday night to take on undefeated Portsmouth at 6 p.m.

Lady Titans tie Rams, edge Mounties

Led by senior forward Kelsey Holmes, the Warwick Co-op girls’ hockey team posted a 1-0-1 week.

The Lady Titans battled defending state champion La Salle last Wednesday to a 1-1 tie at Boss Arena behind a goal from Holmes.

Goaltender Mary Greenwell stopped 10 of La Salle’s 11 shots to stifle the Rams.

Warwick then finished the week strong with a 3-2 win over Mount St. Charles/Lincoln/Cumberland at Thayer Arena on Friday night.

Holmes and Abi Given led the way offensively in the win over the Mounties, registering a goal and an assist apiece.

Freshman Nicole Procaccini netted the only other goal for the Lady Titans.

Warwick now sits at 3-0-1 in the standings and will return to action on Friday night when it plays Cranston/East Greenwich Co-op at 6 p.m. at the West Warwick Civic Center.

It will also host La Salle at 8 p.m. at Thayer Arena on Saturday night.

Vets wins high-scoring matchup with Huskies

The Warwick Vets boys’ hockey team split its pair of league games over the weekend, eking out an 8-7 win over Mt. Hope on Friday night, before falling to West Warwick/Exeter-West Greenwich 3-1 on Saturday night.

Sophomore forward Collin Csoszor continued his hot start to the season, totaling four goals and two assists over the two games.

Csoszor netted a hat trick and added two assists to pace the ’Canes offense on Friday, and had the lone goal for Vets on Saturday.

Helping Csoszor in the high-scoring Friday night game was Jacob Mitchell, who scored a goal and added three assists, while D.J. Kowalik scored two goals and dished out an assist.

Defenseman Greg Fontaine also recorded four assists from the back end, and Tim Chaffee and Dylan Tindle each scored one goal.

The .500 weekend brings Vets’ record to 2-2 overall. It’ll play Johnston/North Providence Co-op Saturday night at 6 p.m. at Smithfield Municipal Rink.

Sentinels hand Hawks first loss

The Smithfield boys’ hockey team got three goals from forward David Goolgasian, including the game-winner in overtime, to help the Sentinels to a 6-5 win over Hendricken on Saturday night.

The Hawks took a 5-4 lead into the final period, but Smithfield was able to tie the game in the final minute. It then took Goolgasian just one minute, five seconds to find twine in the extra frame to put the game away.

Hendricken’s top line continued its stellar play, with Pat Creamer finding the back of the cage twice, while Brandon Waterman and Reilly Miller each notched a pair of helpers.

Peter Krekorian pitched in with a goal and an assist for a two-point night.

Hendricken will look to bounce back on Friday night when it plays Cranston West/East Co-op at 8 p.m. at Cranston Ice Rink.

The Hawks will get another crack at Smithfield on Saturday when they travel to Smithfield Municipal Rink for a 7:30 p.m. puck drop.
