The Warwick Vets boys’ soccer team saw its season come to a close on Monday, losing 4-1 to top-seeded Woonsocket in the quarterfinal round of the Division III playoffs.
The ’Canes were riding high at the start, coming off of a 3-0 preliminary round victory over Ponaganset. But the Villa Novans – who went 11-1-2 during the regular season – were too much, getting two goals PaOusman Jobe and one apiece from David Amaya and Garrett Lambert.
Vets got a goal from Brad Robert and 12 saves in net from Ryan Costa, yet it wasn’t enough to reach the semifinals. Woonsocket is scheduled to take on No. 4 Providence Country Day today in the semis at 6 p.m.
The ’Canes will say goodbye to seniors Andrew Falaguerra, Jacob Clark, Nikone Soupharath, Trent Mochel, Adam Dorsey, Jonathon Hunt, Colin Lemire and Robert.
