Canes fighting cancer

The Leadership Academy at Warwick Vets organized a "Pink Out" to raise awareness about breast cancer and virtually everyone at the school wore some pink on Friday, including Principal Gerald Habershaw. He wore a light pink shirt. “I was amazed at the participation, excitement and generosity of the Vets community. Almost the entire school was in pink – it was awesome,” said faculty member Michael Sollitto who helped put the event together. As of Friday, the school community raised $1,500. Sollitto reported the Vets Leadership team would have 100 participants for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk on Oct. 21 at Roger Williams Park. The academy also decorated the school entrance with balloons thanks to parent Sherri Sollars who donated them. (Warwick Beacon photos)
