Cans up

Nearly a ton of canned goods were collected in a drive sponsored by the Gorton Junior High Student Council. The drive had a competitive element with the 7th and 8th grade homerooms that collected the most food each winning a pizza party. The Stop & Shop at Meadowbrook also contributed to the drive with 480 cans, as did students from Sherman School. This year’s drive more than doubled what was collected last year. The food was donated to the Westbay Community Action Marketplace.
