Carolyn M. (Donnelly) Maroney, a foster parent for the past 43 years passed away at home on Christmas Day surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of Daniel J. Maroney, Jr.

She was a daughter of the late Francis and Phoebe (Tillinghast) Donnelly. Mrs. Maroney received the Jefferson Award and was a member of the J. Arthur Trudeau Memorial Center Board of Directors, RIAC and former Governor Garrahy’s Commission for the Disabled. She had been formerly employed as a nurse’s aide for the RI Medical Center in Cranston.

Carolyn was the mother of Daniel and Lloyd Maroney, Patricia Amaral, Susan Alpaio and her husband, John, Laurie Bodkin and her husband, Fredrick, Loretta Leeman, Sabrina Cherry, William Maroney, Gary Remillard and Anthony Carello and the late Marion “Pudgie” Maroney, Carolyn Spaziano and Stephen Pheaneuf; sister of Marion McGrath and the late Francis and Bernard Donnelly and Edith Manera. She is survived by 23 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren.

Her funeral will be held Monday, December 31 at 9 a.m. from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Rita Church, Oakland Beach Ave. at 10 am. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans’ Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Sunday 4-8 p.m.
