Fresh from his first-ever appearance on Federal Hill’s annual Columbus Day weekend, Warwick resident Roger Ceresi will make a return visit to the Tri-City Elks Lodge No. 14 on West Shore Road this Saturday night.

And if Saturday’s three-hour performance is anything like last Saturday’s show on Federal Hill, swing dance fans may be in for an extra special treat.

“I couldn’t believe my eyes,” said Robert D’Uva, president of the Federal Hill Merchants Association, after watching people flock to the stage where Ceresi and his All-Starz played for four hours last Saturday afternoon. “As the old song goes, they were dancin’ in the streets.”

People who are familiar with Ceresi’s style of upbeat rhythm and blues and swing dancing will also be happy to know that Saturday’s performance will be held upstairs at the Tri-City Elks Lodge instead of the downstairs banquet facility.

“We’re always excited about playing at the Elks,” Ceresi said. “For me, of course, it’s home; I love that room and I really love when people are dancing and having fun.”

Saturday night’s performance, though, will be somewhat bittersweet for Ceresi and his All-Starz and All-Starz horns.

“The entire program will be dedicated to Swing Daddy Rick Orcutt!” Ceresi exclaimed, a certain sadness cracking his voice. “We loved that man; he was a talent. His passing creates a huge void in all our lives.”

Ceresi’s eight-pierce music machine, which features some of New England’s all-time greatest names in rhythm and blues, last appeared at the Tri-City Elks Lodge and played before a near sell-out crowd. Lodge No. 14 officials have prepared for a record crowd Saturday.

While there’s limited seating, some advance tickets remain at $10 per person. Admission Saturday evening will be $11.
