Charles “Charlie” William Johnson

Charles “Charlie” William Johnson, 90, passed away on Monday at home with his loving family at his side. He was the husband of Mildred (Sekator) Johnson.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Howard and Bertha (Thompson) Johnson. Charles was a graduate of Franklin Institute of Boston. He was an Air Force Veteran of World War II. Charles was a member of the Apponaug Pentecostal Church for over forty-seven years and served as a deacon for over thirty of those years. He was also a member of Full Gospel Businessmen Fellowship for over twenty years. Charles was a quiet and gentle man to most people but when they got to know him they knew his strength lived in his spirit for God. He loved sports, competed at Hope High School and excelled in baseball, football and track and field, which he received many awards.

Besides his wife he leaves two sons, Mervin Howard Johnson and Roger Charles Johnson and a daughter, Stacey (Johnson) Fernandes all of Warwick. He also leaves three grandchildren, Taeje Sekator-Johnson, Karrah and Charna Fernandes. He was the father of the late Richard “J.R.” Johnson.

The funeral will be at the Apponaug Pentecoastal Church, 27 Prospect St., Warwick. Calling hours will be held Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. before service. Burial will be private in Riverside Cemetery, Wakefield. For guest book and condolences, averystortifuneralhome.com
