Charles Edward Davis, 88, of West Shore Terrace, known to his friends as Ed, passed away at home on May 8, 2014 after a long valiant struggle with heart disease.

Born in Cranston, RI, he was the son of the late Horace O. Davis and Corinne B. (LeBlanc) Davis. Mr. Davis resided in Warwick for most of his life. A Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Davis worked many years for a division of RI Malleable Iron Works, and upon its shutdown, went to work aboard a fishing trawler out of the Port of Galilee. Prior to retirement, he worked for his brother-in-law’s moving company, Capital Moving & Storage. He retired in 1992, due to illness.

Mr. Davis was the father of Charles E. “Chuck” Davis, Jr. and the late Stephen E. Davis, Sr. He is also survived by three grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; countless friends; and his beloved cat, Jasmine. He was the loving and devoted brother of the late Eleanor Anderson and Lillian Bertram. The three siblings, bonded by fate, spent many a happy time together.

During his lifetime, Mr. Davis enjoyed sport fishing and golf, reveled in card games and billiards, and tended a beautiful vegetable and flower garden. Mr. Davis was an outstanding cook. Mr. Davis lived a full and contented life but with one notable regret; that he didn’t marry the love of his life, Gloria Gillis.

Mindful of the wishes of Mr. Davis, visiting hours are respectfully omitted and burial will be private. Arrangements with the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home.
